A great place to visit for the whole family. Came here for the Christmas lights which was very impressive. A thousand years of history at this castle which was once a fortress. You can learn a lot here about the history of the castle with their great interactive displays. The grounds are great and well kept. Highly recommended for a great day out.
A good castle to visit. Well presented inside the castle. Buying tickets in advance will save money.nnSome activities for kids but you have to pay extra for some. Not all events run throughout the year. So check the events calendar.nnCar park is far away from the main entrance. There is a bus service from the car park to the main entrance, otherwise it is a 15-20 minutes walk to the main entrance from the car park.nnYou will need to spend a day to cover the attractions. There is a hotel inside as well if you want to stay overnight.nnThere were a few food stalls inside the castle. Expect to walk a fair bit and climb steps.
Beautiful castle! Staff was great. Wild peacocks! Beautiful gardens. The steps to the battlements are pretty steep, but the views from up there were amazing. The falcons quest show was really good as well and included a condor! An amazing sight to see. The only downside was the cafe which we visited at 12:45. There were a few boxed sandwiches left- and a few kids packs which were 10 pounds each. Pretty disappointed with the selection. It looked like there might have been hot food earlier but it was gone.
Great place to visit. Huge fan of Tudor era. During Xmas it is also great to take kids with you as there were plenty of activities. Overall, it is a beautiful place with huge history well worth visiting.
Dropped into the Castle as a part of a Midlands tour during half term. Had a great time in and around the castle, my 8 year old was trained in the art of Werewolf Combat as a part of the Halloween Scare Fest event and we also watch the Bird Show that was very informative and amazing....
