A decent railway station, only 3 platforms with relatively frequent services across Yorkshire and into London and Manchester. Fairly clean facilities however lacks a toilet and the waiting room has been closed for some time now due to vandalism. There is a rather small car park with free city bus services around Wakefield. A pleasing blend of modern and Victorian architecture gives this railway station a pleasant feel. Unfortunately the new waiting shelter which opened only last year has been closed for many months now which means there is a lack of seating, I believe this is very poor.
Felt like the ghost of the 90s had abandoned the place. Bleak. Vending machine did not vend. Nothing else to eats cafe was shut at peak time on a Friday.nnNothing to see/do.nnThe old platform buildings are quite nice - I wish they had something interesting or nice in them.nnPlenty of shelter if you're waiting for a train.
It is easy to say what the station can offer other than train journeys NOTHING. No ticket office No toilets No staff No cafe No pub. Poor information boards. It probably looks much like it did when it was first built and needs improvements. Good news, my train was on time
How can there be no toilets availabl No wonder the station stinks of Urine. What are people supposed to d - relative has a stroke which means he needs to use the toilet straight away. In 2026 this is unacceptable
Smallish station with just two platforms. modern look and brings you out the station on the level in the eastern side of the town.nIt has a Greggs in the station which is handy but unfortunately was closed on the Sunday when I wanted it.
