This was a great station to depart from, with a vintage Metro entrance! Station sign is classic and the inside is also decorated with train imagery, platforms are well-sized too. Cleanliness had been enforced, although the departure boards were not up to date on punctuality.
Batley is a standard small town railway station with some facilities, but not many. There is adequate shelter and seating on both platforms. There is a lot of artwork around, both of the platforms and in the subway, which gives something interesting to look at while you're waiting for your train. There is no step free access to the platform.nnThe station itself is located on quite a steep hill, and serves as quite the workout to reach if you're arriving on foot from certain directions.
Astonishingly dangerous to get to as a pedestrian. You need to cross two main roads with no crossing facilities on either and one of those is on a blind corner. There’s no bus service from the town and no taxi rank. This is a really populous area but everything here is against you. Dumb and poorly planned.
They may be doing alterations but they could do with toilet facilities
Unmanned station. Little facilities beyond ticket machine, electronic boards and small waiting area. Only a few trains per hour
