Living in a not very Waitrose-y town, I’m fortunate to live in the middle of 3 Waitrose supermarkets as I love to cook. The status of Waitrose can perhaps be best summarised by one of my patients who was very keen that her medical officially recorded that she specifically passed out in a Waitrose. I think their official motto should be ‘reassuringly expensive’nnThis is my most frequented Waitrose. Parking will cost you but you can reclaim 50p when you shop here - get a refund at check upnnOther supermarkets have got rid of their fresh counters but swimming against the tide, Waitrose retains its butcher, fishmonger and deli counters. The staff here are always helpful and they’re happy to order in or reserve any requestsnnThere’s a fresh sushi counter although the sushi purist in me probably wouldn’t eat sushi which was made recentlynnSome great quality ingredients, especially from their No 1 range. Best cheese selection of any British supermarket. Free coffee if you have a loyalty card. Weekly newspaper and seasonal magazines with cooking tips. Reassuringly reliable
Wish I could shop here all the time. It is brighter, cleaner, better laid out, wider aisles, more professional staff. Probably how Carlsberg would do a supermarket. If not for the prices.
A car park right next to the store is really helpful, especially as some of the parking fee can be refunded by shopping here.n​There's free coffee for those with a Waitrose card as long as you remember to bring a cup and like Nero coffee. Also, a free regular magazine with interesting food news, articles, and recipes is available in-store.n​The highlight for me is the cheese counter, where you're able to purchase even obscure cheese usually only available at speciality shops. This is the supermarket to use when trying to locate that unusual ingredient.n​However, I try to avoid weekends because it can get very busy in the aisles and at the checkouts.
Order Uber deliver of grocery shopping at 2.30pm today. Paid £69. Uber update showed 45 mins arrival. It is now 4.39 and Waitrose has just cancelled my order as they have closed. It took them 2 hours to pick 6 items for delivery. Then they cancel. They have yet to refund my money. Fuming
These clementines are supposed to be juicy and sweet they are not. They are eye-watering sharp and they have been picked too early and it looks like a carbon dioxide spray has been used to take away the green skin. They cost £3.32 and I am pretty angry.
