Quite possibly one of the dirtiest, filthiest dumps I have ever had the unfortunate pleasure of visiting! Look at the pictures and open your eyes around the store, the filth is not hard to miss! Food is presented and sold from filthy fridges, freezers and shelves. How on Earth some of the staff have the audacity to waltz around the place like their something special when they allow the store to get in the state it is in is beyond me! Checkouts are a nightmare, checkout supervisors need to spend less time huddled around the witches culdron bitching (it’s interesting what you hear when at the quick scan terminals) or prancing around like their something special, get on a till or clean something, anything, EVERYTHING!!!!! My advice would be to go into town and visit the other supermarkets in Hitchin who value their customers but most of all, are clean and have the exact same items, better variety and cheaper! Avoid here, it’s an overpriced filthy dump. No wonder the staff waltz around with their nose in the air, they spend all day smelling their own filthy store!

Very busy Waitrose with poor layout of self scan, as usual. Great staff etc but let down by service desk separate from self scan. Why is it so difficult?

Against all types of supermarket, it compared well. Against other Waitrose, it is very lacking. Why this is, I cannot say. It is a shame that the company hasn't noticed and done something about it. Woe betide the person who goes to the cafe for a relaxing coffee
