A wonderful dining experience which was provided with great food, an interesting wine float and excellent service. With any premium dining the price is somewhat irrelevant, the food was well thought through and we found that the drinks package matched the flavours well. The service was great and the staff knew the flavours and could articulate and comment on their views of why the pairing complemented each dish. Kid-friendliness: This isn't a kid friendly venue.
100% go here instead of Six by Nico - You will not regret it! On a Sunday you can get a 5 course meal plus complimentary snacks for just £49, with an optional wine pairing flight for £35. The food is just fantastic! Delicious & interesting, and whereas at some fine dining restaurants you will leave feeling hungry, that would never be the case at V&V! The portions are very generous! Amazing value for money! Go check it out! Support this small, independent business run by an incredible Chef he’s done Leeds proud on masterchef the professionals too! Vegetarian options: You can make any dietary request in advance and they will be happy to tailor the menu for you - The vegetarian options are as fantastic as the main menu!
- in general, the food was good, however, our main course, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, was very chewy so we could not eat it - the mushroom risotto was excellent - very standard choices of ingredients, very safe and classy combinations. Nothing super exciting or new but overall was good. The major concern, however, is the atmosphere in the restaurant: 1. 80s music does not suit the fine dining restaurant - sorry! Neither rock nor exciting/ happy vibes. It does distract from enjoying and tasting food more than opened curtains . Some soft jazz, sunset lounge, and chill lounge would be much better. 2. The waiters presented dishes just reading off the menu - I can read, would be nice to know a bit more about a dish. Where the ingredients came from etc. 3. It was dark during our lunch meal. Fine idea to close the curtains but think about the music, which goes in the loop of 1h45mins Comparing to other, this restaurant is lucky to have a Michelin star
Me and my partner decided to choose here for our anniversary and it did not disappoint. From the moment we entered we felt welcomed and appreciated. Ordered the Sunday Lunch Tasting Menu and each dish just complimented each other. Thank you Chef Jono and the whole team for a great experience and we hope to see you again in the future to try another one of your signature menus, p.s thank you so much for the signed menu, we both loved the added touch
It's good but left me feeling like I wanted slightly more and slightly less, cheese board was overly huge, roast beef yorkshire pudding macaroni cheese, was great if I'd been in my local pub but wasn't what I expected here. Yet the risotto was brilliant. The service was friendly and helpful but disappointed by the music which was too loud for us as they where trying to fill the whole restaurant from one speaker and we where close too it, I suggest more speakers lower volume on each. Lighting, it took us a while to realise that we where occasionally pitched into darkness and then brightly illuminated again, it was all to do with the hot lamps for the kitchen going on and off very off putting. Overall, I've been before and will probably go again but on this occasion was slightly disappointed.
Top quality dining experience, the tasting menu has a great variety to it and we would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a special evening out. The restaurant has a personal feel to it and all staff work hard to provide a great experience.Food: 5/5
Overall Jono at V&V was a worthwhile experience. Some really good food and friendly service. Not particularly expensive and certainly not a place I regret spending an evening. The Good Bits Overall the food was really interesting. We had the 5 course menu. The chicken liver cereal was an interesting deconstructed ‘pate on toast’. The roast onion and Parmesan was tasty with great texture, like a chunky French onion soup, but not a soup! The haddock was good too as was the chocolate dessert not a fan of eating ants though!! Staff were really friendly and attentive, without being overly intrusive. The Bits that could be better The ‘sweet and sour’ chicken wasn’t great. Let down I think by bad chicken. Stringy, tough and not in the same league as the rest of the meal. Only part of the food experience that was below par. Was surprised it left the kitchen like that. Asked about dessert wine as there isn’t one on the wine list there is a perfectly good Muscat in the wine flight. Was pointed to the digestif section which had no wines at all on it. Odd that a server would think a desert wine is the same as a Baileys, port, brandy or a Kahlua -but they did serve us a glass of the muscat. Lastly, the lighting is a touch on the bright side. I’d be tempted to get some decent white table cloths and tone the lighting down a notch. But maybe I’m just being overly picky!
Had an amazing Experience last night. The June 7 course was lovely. I loved the service and the fact this place isn’t pretentious. Even down to the playlist. It was perfect for me and my friends. More food than I was expecting but it was perfect. Thank you Chef Jono and your team. We will be back soon.Food: 5/5
The taster menu was a great mix of different tastes and flavours. Staff were excellent and the setting is lovely tables not to close together so not too noisy. We were here for our sons 21st and couldn't have been a better choice. The joy of a taster menu, aside from variety is that you have a full 3 hour evening of chat, food and drink. What could be better.
We had Sunday lunch here today and it was great. The food was really good, and it was fun to bring the fine dining/tasting menu concept to a Sunday roast. We particularly enjoyed the vinegar butter and the lamb/pea/mint course. Good selection of cocktails on the menu. The service was brilliant: a really friendly and attentive team added to the experience. Very much deserving of a Michelin Guide recommendation, so it's a shame it didn't make it this year. One suggestion: too many potatoes were served with the beef: as part of such a large meal, I think a couple of less potatoes per bowl would be absolutely fine you could always offer extra if required. Good playlist too!
