During Covid my cat was taken in very unwell and we were told she needed an operation. We were told that when they opened her up they could see that it wouldn’t help as her heart was enlarged and so she was out to sleep. We were still charged for the operation £1400 bill in total. Her body was sent for cremation after about 10 days as I was told she was ‘lost’. We eventually got her back.nFast forward to Sunday 26th Oct 2025. My 12 year old cat was taken in, she had had a stroke and was put to sleep. My vets kindly offered to put in my insurance claim. 3 days later Vets now emailed and text to ask to pay the bill. I contacted them explaining my vets were doing it and they told me that that’s not allowed and if they did it I’d have to pay £35. My vets did put in the claim free of charge.nVets now are now saying I’ll need to pay £425 to collect my girls ashes just incase my insurance don’t pay up?nOverall if I have any other option in the future I’d definitely try another out of hours vets.
Such an amazing vets They seen my boy Alfie at 4am last Sunday and seen him again this Saturday. My dog has heart failure and water on the lungs. They were able to stabilise him both times. He was so sad before his treatment and now he is back to his happy self. The staff from reception, nurse and vets are all absolutely amazing. They are so kind with their words and really help to make you feel at ease. They work long hours and tirelessly to help look after not just our animals, but us Humans too. Absolutely outstanding service
Overall, the care my cat received was good and I’m grateful for the help we received. However, there were a couple of issues that lowered my overall impression.nnWhen we arrived, my cat had been hit by a car. She couldn’t move her back end and was bleeding. We carried her in wrapped in a towel. The receptionist insisted she be put in a carrier “in case she tried to escape.” Given her condition, it was clear she was unable to move. Having to argue about this while my cat was in obvious pain and I was already very distressed was both unpleasant and unnecessary.nnMy other concern was how the treatment options were presented. I felt pressured by the vet to agree to emergency treatment, particularly a £1500 x-ray. He later acknowledged this could wait until she saw her usual vet, since no treatment for broken bones would be carried out at the emergency clinic. At her usual vet, the consultation, x-ray, treatment, a day of care and medication came to £800 in total, which is considerably less than £1500 for an x-ray alone. I worry that if I had been less informed, I might have agreed to unnecessary and very expensive treatment.nnI understand emergency care is always costly, but it is important that owners in distress are given clear choices without feeling pressured. The experience left me concerned that the focus was financial rather than on what was truly in my cat’s best interests.
The out of hours service welcomed up, kept us calm and saw to our poorly dog quickly and efficient, the routine check to see what was wrong, was amazing, quick and pain free for our dog. They found what was wrong and ensured they gave us the right medicines to make sure she gets better as soon as possible
I had to take my dog in this Saturday in emergency and the vet was amazing with him, very efficient and gentle. Thank you so much for helping him and making it a more pleasant experience
