We had a really good start here just over a year ago with helpful nurses and vets that did their best to make our dog feel at ease. And consistent staffing which provided some comfort to our dog. The last few weeks/months have been really poor. We have a pet plan but receive no plan, updates or information about what is due. Reminders for meds are way out of schedule. But the worst part is that all the friendly helpful people are not there. Instead we have vets that don't make any effort to interact with the dog, almost as if they've never met a dog before. And I mean zero effort. Completely different people at reception. Completely different nurses. What's the point in trying to build up a dog's comfort with regular visits if you all change all the time. And learn how to interact with dogs. You're a vet!
I'm not a regular customer of Lynwood Vet. I booked a Keyhole Surgery with them for my little dog because my regular vet don't do keyhole Surgery. There were a few vets in Bournemouth and Poole area who provide Keyhole Surgery Services. In the end, I phoned Lynwood vet to book an appointment. The staff at Lynwood Bournemouth branch told me that I need to bring my dog in for a prior operation check before the surgery. So, I booked a date and took my dog there for the prior operation assessment - my first impression was that the staff there were not very friendly, there was no interaction between the staff and the customer and/or with the dog. I waited there for quite long time, eventually there was a young nurse I think called my dog in, she checked my name and home address, then she listened my dog's lung for a few seconds, then give the dog a temperature check, then the appointment was over. Then at my request, she weighted my dog. All in all, l would say the appointment was over within 5 minutes! I then went to the reception to book a date for the surgery - the reception staff said that I need to pay £59.90 for the consultancy fee which I thought the check should be part of the Keyhole Surgery prior to the operation not a separate or additional cost! I paid but thought what "a rip off" because my vet only charge £28 for a consultancy fee. I asked how much it would cost for the actual Keyhole Surgery - the reception staff said that the surgery will cost £600 as they only recently increased their price from £500 to £600. I accepted and booked the surgery on 27th September. The day before the operation, I received a phone call from Lynwood Vet from their Wimborne branch. Once again, the staff on the phone was not very friendly and helpful. When I asked is there any additional fee I need to be aware of? She said the surgery is £650 plus any cost for dog's jacket, collar or tablets if required. When I questioned the price for Keyhole Surgery was £600 less than a week ago, she then told me the price was just increased on that very day she phoned me! I was very annoyed and stressed! She then said that "you can cancel the appointment if you don't like"! Followed her advice, I cancelled the surgery! The experience with Lynwood Vet was very bad for me and for my dog! I would never use their service again! Stay clear from this practice in the future!
EDIT: my dog is now petrified of going to the vets since this visit he use to LOVE going to the vets. Avoid at all costs My dog went under sedation and had his castration at the Wimborne branch last year with absolutely no issues was told what a joy he was, unfortunately that was not the case when he went for sedation at for an X-ray at the bournemouth branch. We had brought him in at 8.50 to receive a phone call at noon to say they had been unsuccessful to sedate him and claim he showed signs of aggression and distress. We was asked to pop in later to help assist with the sedation or collect him straight let him have a break and to bring him back later in the day or to rearrange completely and to give him anxiety medication and to stay whilst they sedated this was never given to us as a original option. Obviously hearing my dog is distressed I wanted to collect him right away and not cause him any more upset for the day. My dog is not use to being kept in a kennel for so many hours which has obviously caused him to be distressed, when we left the vets he instantly peed for a long time and drank a whole bottle of water after in the car park and done two poos straight away when he got home, so he was kept in the kennel for all them hours without access to toilet or water then was attempted to be sedated which probably added to his distress he should’ve been seen to earlier. When you get a phone call 3 hours in you expect it to be they are waiting for him to wake not that he hasn’t even been sedated. My dog usually loves going to the vets and is super friendly towards staff despite certain members clearly being cautious of him I really do hope he is now not fearful of the vets after this visit. They kept saying “if he was a 10kg dog this wouldn’t be an issue” well he’s not 10kg and you all knew this prior. Obviously hearing your dog is distressed you rush there as quick as you can, they take a rather long time bringing him back out we hear them all by the door whispering getting their stories together they bring Martine out for some reason to explain everything despite her not being present or involved. Unfortunately I have had to complain about Martine in the past and have politely asked not to have her again as a previous appointment she spent 20 minutes in a hot small room lecturing me about my dogs weight despite him loosing weight from him previous appointment rather than the issue I went there for at that point he was too bothered she couldn’t properly examine him to see the issue so had to book another appointment to get clearer answers on the issue with another vet that appointment we was greeted by a small yappy dog so we sat on the other side of the surgery Martine went to collect the other dog then said to us “oh will your dog be ok with this one passing just I noticed your sat the other side of the waiting room that’s obviously for a reason” presuming and discriminating my big dog was going to be the issue here the owners corrected her and told her their dog is the issue. So Martine was brought out and my dog wasn’t so at this point emotions did get the best of us and our patience was lost we wanted to see our dog who we had been told is distressed and apparently had acted out of character I honestly felt distressed for my dogs welfare, I see my dog as my child I was extremely upset. He really shouldn’t of been kept in a kennel for all them hours. Would not recommend if you have a large breed dog prior to this I have noticed this branch can be over cautious with my big misunderstood gentle giant.
Always friendly and attentive. My dog loves coming to the vets and all the staff are amazing with both looking after my nerves and my dog. We use Dunbar road but she was recently spayed At Wimborne and had a fantastic experience. Thank you to all the staff in both branches for looking after us. More on the expensive side, but the service provided is so worth it. Thank you Lynwood!
I would really like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Luisa for how caring and amazing she was with Millie. Not a day goes by that I don't feel appreciative of her kindness and caring attitude towards my beautiful baby doggie Millie of nearly 18years. She's left a big space in our lives and I miss her so very much. But I now know, as Luisa said, I would eventually know it was the right decision for her. She is now at peace and probably running about, which she wasn't doing at the end or for a long time. Playing with her ball in heaven as she loved so much. We had her buried with our other family dog she grew up with, looking over a beautiful field in the country at my Dad's. I'm looking forward to visiting as I haven't been able to since lockdown. I look forward to one day seeing Luisa again, she is an incredible vet with so much love and compassion, perhaps one day we will meet again on better circumstances and with a new addition to our family, once we feel the time is right. Thank you for everything Cassie Emery-Tyler xx
I would give 10 stars if I could. Excellent staff and service. My Teddy was seen today and he got a warm welcome from everyone! I called this morning asking for an appointment for as soon as possible and was initially booked in for tomorrow, they called me 2 times to offer me suitable appointments based on my availability for today. They were also very clear on instructions and listened to every single one of my concerns. I 10000% recommended them. Thank you
Very helpful practice and Vets that care. It's a bit expensive and on my last experience I had to go back for painkillers which I thought could have been avoided by prescribing on my first visit. However, as a result met a vet that was experienced with Guinea pigs and gave me good advice about my sick little piggie. So overall a good interaction.
An excellent Veterinary hospital which I have used since 1980 who treat family pets. Friendly receptionists & experienced Vets who really care for the animals they treat. I have been very pleased over the years how my Pets have been treated at the practise. Happy Pets Club has a monthly fee which gives a discount on consultations, food, neutering, microchipping, flea & worming treatment & vaccinations. Happy Pets also gives you 2 free check ups a year for your pet. One of which would be to administer your pet's boosters. The Lynwood Group has other practises at Wimborne, Verwood & Swanage. The out of hours service is at the Wimborne practise run by Vets now.
Excellent service. Staff are always friendly to the humans and animals - even if you aren't there to see them personally. Good parking on site plus extra on nearby quiet roads They have excellent physio and hydro therapy services by appointment on site also. They've had some staff changes recently but the new team seen lovely and just as friendly.
I have taken my pets to this practice for 35 years and would highly recommend the team. It has obviously changed over that period but the vets, nurses and receptionists have always been very caring and empathetic. Vets fees aren't cheap anywhere but the service at Lynwood is worth it.
