This was a great station to both arrive and depart at, with appropriately sized platforms for the trains! The design is smooth and pretty, signs help navigate and departure boards are readily available. Boards did not keep up to date with delays though, however the station's cleanliness was a bonus.
Truro station is a 3 platform station about a 13min steep uphill walk from Truro.nn There’s a small coffee shop/ convenience store with snacks and WiFi inside and staff on hand to help with tickets.nnTrain services here run between Paddington, Penzance, Newcastle and Manchester Piccadilly.nnThere’s stairs and a footbridge connecting the platforms.nn There’s a taxi rank and bus service outside the station as well as a pick up and drop off.nn Parking is limited at the station.nnA walk to Truros town center takes about 13 min and there’s loads to see there—from the cathedral to cute shops and coffee stores.
Lovely old train station. BE WARNED if you are visiting Truro city centre on the train, it's a 15 minutes walk down a very steep hill. Fine when you are walking down but coming back it's a 15 minutes walk uphill that becomes steeper and steeper. Definitely not for the unfit.
Staff are always friendly smiling and always happy to help.nI wanted to thank you all for finding my phone and keeping it safe.nI can't thank you enough.n
Terrible customer service and very unhelpful rude staff.nnI purchased an open return train ticket from Plymouth to Truro yesterday 10.04.2024. I was only going for the evening to visit a friend last minute, I had no issues whatsoever on my outbound journey however, after checking the live train times to see when I could get the train back it showed a train at 22:23 that made a stop in Plymouth according to the GWR app/live train times.nnWhen I arrived at the station to get my return/inbound train home to Plymouth, I was met by a very rude member of staff wearing ‘GWR’ uniform with a high vis jacket, she was short with glasses and had her hair up.nnShe said to me in a very rude tone “there’s no more trains after 21:40, it’s been like that for the last 6 months.” Which I had no idea about. I argued that the app told me the train stopped in Plymouth and I had a return ticket, they told me that because it was a night service train doesn’t state this on the GWR app either they would not be letting me on even though there were seated carriages not just ones with cabins. She then said to me “you can go and battle it out with the train manager” not even trying to help me or provide me with information on alternative transportation.nnShe did say that the train stops in Plymouth but that I would still not be allowed on, the train manager told me it doesn’t stop in Plymouth at all which I knew was a lie, he just wanted to get rid of me. I explained almost in tears I needed to get home to Plymouth that night and they just walked away without any care at all.nnI rang my friend up in a panic who managed to find me a coach leaving Truro within the hour, I finally made it home over an hour later than I should have if I had been allowed to use the train.nnThe people who I am not sure of their names, really deserve an investigation over this due to their attitude and undue care to a paying passenger, as I nearly had to spend the night in the station. Had this been someone very young and vulnerable, this could be very dangerous.nnPlease take a look at your online train times and make it more clear that the 21:40 out of Truro is the last passenger train, as this is very misleading information.
