I came here for the Taylor Swift club night which was amazing. As it’s a concert venue it felt much nicer than a regular club, and much less dark and dingy, but it was still very vibey and fun. The bar service was quick. The queue for the toilets took ages though.
Gorgeous venue with very snug seating - the sound system upstairs needs improving but there was a lively vibe. The bar staff and door team were friendly and efficient. I’d love to give five stars but £7.50 for as pint is extreme. I know venues are struggling but so are we.
Went here last month for a YouTube film premiere and had an okay experience at Troxy. As it was a sold-out event, 1.6k seats occupied, the queue to enter was very long and the venue itself was naturally jam-packed. This made it particularly hard to access a restroom only one available on the night and just move around in general. Having said that, stewards did their best to facilitate large crowds when entering/exiting the event which balanced things out. Another * lost as the sound quality left much to be desired, with being sat front row the last thing I expected was an unnecessarily loud speaker that frustrated and affected my viewing experience for the entire duration of the film.
Troxy is a great venue. I would recommend getting out from under the balcony if you're standing downstairs as from there the sound of people talking was almost as loud as the band. Further forward on the lower level of the ground floor the sound quality was great and it's a really beautiful auditorium. The cloakroom was cash only and felt a bit pricey at £4 for a bag. In retrospect I could have just taken it into the auditorium with me, so worth checking first before you part with your money.
What a great venue , didn't even know it was there. So glad we went and will happily visit again.plenty of bars inside and very little queues, staff were great and happy to help. Merchandise shop as you go in if you need it.
Great night watching Royksopp. Good job in setting up a captivating stage with an engaging audiovisual experience without any issues. The sound experience and the acoustics are on point. One thing to work on if feasible is to fix the chairs. They are too small and restrictive to sit comfortably.
The venue leaves something to be desired, too small toilets and understaffed bars mean enormous queues in all directions and poor ventilation means, despite the size of the place you will get drenched if the crowd is as exuberant as Specials crowd were! That all said the heat did create a kind of intensity to go along with top notch performances, powerful audio and decent lighting, plus there was plenty of room to dance despite the place feeling packed. All in all a great night was had by all!
Great venue, central London prices. Overall one of East Londons iconic venues, just off Limehouse DLR station. Very nice decor and sound system, but could be but louder. The main floor area has one lower space next to stage with benches opposite it. Spacious balcony area closed on smaller events, couple of bars, cloakroom, decent toilets. 7 quid for a pint atm. It normally hosts events on the pricier tkt range but went there for a metal gig, 4 bands under 40 quid, can't complaint. There aren't any good food places around, in fact it's bi t of a dead area so no afters there. Not much of partking around either. There were selling food I side at the gig I went but no idea where they selling it. Very open feel, with good view of the stage from all areas. Good security, nice vibes.
Beautiful 1920's building. Attended the Backyard Cinema Christmas Spectacular opening night. Was decorated beautifully. However, I felt the chairs were not very comfortable to sit and watch a movie in. Plus it felt very draughty inside.
Lovely Art Deco venue. We saw Psy Trance act Infected Mushroom there, and there's loads of room to dance and great lighting. Drinks were pricey at £10 for a Bacardi and coke though, and not in the best of areas, but Limehouse station is just down the road.
