Great venue in a super old pub. Has a garden out the back. Fast friendly staff. Average price drinks. 1/2 a cider and pint of lime and soda £5.10. Small stage area. But great sound. And you can get really close to the stage. Great venue.
Good selection of ales in an authentic British boozer. Now mainly setup for gigs so you will see a mixed crowd. Outside seating areas to escape if you need to. Large bar area and quick service. Bohemian feeling with a range of torn leather chairs giving a relaxed feel.
The Bethnal Green Beer was great. I shot a job here before and thought the place oozes character and history. Been again recently and it's still a great atmosphere and event space.. especially the beer garden/cobbled street. I recommend a visit.Service: 4/5
Great traditional East End pub, with a beer garden and adjacent pizza shack. Modest sized music venue, but that's how I like them. Thoroughly recommended.
Pub and music venue which also has a food offering. Easy to get to being a short walk away from Shadwell DLR and Overground stations plus many buses pass by. They have a large outside courtyard with covered seating and a hut at the far end where you can order pizza from, they are top notch and not outrageously priced. No real craft beers but a healthy selection nonetheless with pricing typical of the area. The sound is good but the lighting leaves a lot to be desired and the smoke machine is ridiculous as both the stage and audience get engulfed, I'm not sure if it is healthy. Loos are on the ground floor but there are steps so the less able bodied may struggle. They have been clean each time I have been with soap and a working drier too. Overall for a music venue it's pretty good
It’s a nice, East End venue and pub, with good beers and Aspell cider. Normal London prices of £6 for a pint and I had a Margarita pizza for £11, that’s was really nice and enough for two not-too-hungry adults. They have bands almost every day that start around 10:30 pm until late … and I heard they have karaoke as well. If you arrive at 8 pm it’s mostly empty, 9 pm still you could find a table, 10 pm bursting.
Small pub, relatively quiet, nice beer.
quite possibly the best 150m2 ~ in London. this is what our species should be striving toward. a hive of culture and art amongst a sea of chain pubs devoid of culture or flats devoid of anything other than profit.
For a pub that looks a little beaten up on the outside the bar staff were all great, all the punters were well behaved and the live music that was on although not my scene at all was decent background noise. The place looks like it encourages young artists to perform, not sure if they have an open mic night but it’s well worth sticking your head in and having a pint or two, their “George” lager was a decent brew too apparently, the lads I was with found it worth 3 or 4 pints so it must have been alright. Nice place, nice atmosphere. No food though, but you’re on commercial road so head over to Lahores like we did and fill ya boots.
I went two nights in a row to see a couple of bands I really like. They were excellent as always. Sulk and The Velvetines. Do yourself a favour and check them out. You won't be disappointed. The other bands that played were also very good. The venue is friendly, easy going and well connected to transport links. It just has a pleasing layout and ambience. The George is well known as a lovely place to catch interesting and exciting bands. If you like music, pizza and beverages of many kinds get yourself to The George and have a great evening.
