I booked to stay in this B&B weeks in advance for a weekend away followed by the Great North Run. They rang me to cancel my accommodation the day before it was due to begin. Now there is no more accommodation for me to book in to. All the Great North Run car parking spaces are fully booked. So I now do not have travel plans or accommodation the day before. Hugely disappointed. Unreliable. Do not recommend.
A group of us went for afternoon tea and it was wonderful. It was really good value and very tasty, from the sandwiches, the mini scones, trifles and cakes. Everything was freshly baked and prepared and lovely. We will definitely be going back
I was told by booking.coom i would bee on ground floor but they have no ground floor no good for DISABLED people like me.. i fell down the stairs but noone heard it. The photo is not the same as the place is, no breakfast bar a bag with thing i donot eat. Fell over thr front door mat will never come back ever!!!!carpet not fastened down
Came at short notice . Room comfortable and clean. Had the carvery on the Sunday well worth the money and was delicious breakfast is self service continental. Secure car park to the rear would stay again if in the areaRooms: 5/5
Corned beef pie and salmon toastie were really nice. There was not any crisps with the toastie but when queried we were told they had run out of crisps and were given a portion of chips as substitute. Service very good. The only downside was the cost of the drinks. We had a pot of green tea for two which cost £5.10 and there was only 1 tea bag in the pot! A bit expensive for one plain green tea bag.
Best Sunday dinner I have had while eating out .. all fresh ... fab selection of veg.. staff are all friendly and Lee is a great cook ... been quite a few times now. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Also deliver too . Get yaselves there . Ya wont be sorry xx
Terrible. First off; the man at the desk gave us the wrong key and accused us of having “fake money”. Then when that was sorted we got into our room and it smelt like BO. The carpet was so rough. bed was uncomfortable. It was so hot and the windows didn’t open. The shared bathroom was disgraceful. The bath was dirty, stained and run down.
Great room but had to ask for WiFi to be switched on
Friendly welcoming staff. Started to attend a knitting, crochet, sewing chatting group on a Wednesday Afternoon there. Had a lovely time. Made welcome by everyone. And lunch of pastyless quiche and side salad mmmmmm very nice!! Thanks Lynn & Norma
NOT CHEAP - NOT CHEERFUL Stayed for one night recently, when we arrived there was no one around to book us in - they were busy in the Tea Rooms kitchen so 10 minutes later we had a key for our sea view room. Our room was in the attic, up a very steep narrow staircase. The sea view was obtained by opening the window and sticking my head out. The bed was not good - bed springs twanging on every movement, the bedding was clean hence the one star. The on-suite bathroom was not the cleanest - the previous occupants hair was still in the bath and sink, the extractor fan was filthy and so noisy that it vibrated the bath . Our booking included breakfast - when we were given our key we were told that the breakfast was only a continental which consisted of cereal and toast - all of this was already laid out, if we wanted a cooked breakfast that would cost extra. All in all this place is a dive - do not stay here.
