The Trattoria, Bowness-on-Windermere, serving pizza, pasta and fresh home-made Italian cooking. Open Daily from 12pm till late.
"Trattoria opened it’s doors in May 2016 to a warm welcome from locals and tourists. Bright light bursts through the restaurant giving a warm and welcoming view. With terracotta tiles above the kitchen and bar and prints of Italy on the walls, we invite you to come and dine with us.We are open from 12 noon for our menu that offers an authentic taste of Italy: fresh handmade pizzas, pasta, and homemade desserts are just to name a few.All our food is prepared to order using local or imported authentic ingredients such as our pizza flour from Vesuvius.Outside is a large seating area for those of you that would like to enjoy the Lake District’s occasional sunshine, or if otherwise, we have heat lamps to keep you warm."

The main dishes were perfect with good portion and taste. I would do a rating of 10/10. I recommend the dishes in the pictures attached. The waiters were a little rude when we were asking questions about the menu. The good part is they know the dishes ingredients and what kind of meat each dish contains. There was an argument between the female chief and waiters about food orders, argument was at a higher voice volume, definitely more than music sound which could be disturbing when on a date !!!!! Value is perfect for food portion 4 out of 5 for how staff approached our questions and reacted, but would come back to eat when I re-visit Windermere.
It's not an authentic Italian restaurant. Most of the staff are Romanian so possibly not even Italian owned, the food certainly seemed more of a take of Italian food, rather than an authentic experience. Carbonara had cream, Italians don't use cream, it's a sin. Should be egg, cheese and pancetta or guanciale. When asked if they could make it the authentic way the waiter said it needs cream and he didn't know about the Italian way, he said ",I don't know I am not from Italy". Other dishes were overpowered by herbs, way to many. As Gordon Ramsay says, chef who sprinkle this much garnish in the food make me nervous, what are they trying to hide. It was also way over seasoned with chilli. Chicken was dry and overdone. Parmesan not fresh, cheap grated stuff. A proper Italian restaurant would grate it on your plate for you. I know having spent several years working in one. Complained to the waiter that one of the pasta dishes that didn't mention spice was very spicy and he just laughed, no feedback, no apology, just laighed. All in all, it's overpriced, average service and poor Italian style food.
Food was swimming in oil. Full of olives which wasn’t listed as an ingredient. Full of aubergine and very little else. The chicken was minimal and tasted processed. Was offered a complimentary dessert but I just wanted to leave. I do not recommend this restaurant as now left feeling rather sick and £50 lighter.
Lovely Italian meal. Food was excellent and big portions .freshly cooked and prepared. Staff polite and friendly and very helpful We will come back again again.
Real gem and booked in advance as advised by other reviews and Trattoria team did not disappoint. Food, service was excellent and portions of decent size. Authentic Italian food, pizza and pasta dishes were outstanding, plus loved the sticky toffee pudding.
Nice little Italian restaurant in Bowness. We started with drinks, a pint of Italian draft and a cocktail. Good choice of menu, nibbles, starters, pizzas, Pastas, fish, chicken & meat dishes too. For starters we shared a garlic pizza, king prawn & calamari and deep fried courgette flowers stuffed with ricotta. For mains we had a speck, mushroom, gorgonzola & walnut tagliatelle dish and hake in tomato and pepper sauce. We hadn't planned on having a dessert but the tiramisu and home made chocolate brownie were too good to resist. All washed down with a bottle of house red. Good atmosphere, attentive staff. Complimentary lemonchelo and chocolate with the bill. Very good, can recommend and will return.
Super delicious restaurant with perfect taste Highly recommended to try when near by as they serve verity of Italian food in fresh shape And have long menus for drinks and a good one for sweet The atmosphere was so perfect And location in center
Very disappointed with our visit to this restaurant and I would challenge the authenticity of this being true Italian food. Tasteless and very poorly cooked all round, most of what we ordered we left uneaten. Glad I didn't bring my Italian friends with us. Seems that it's catered to a mass tourist UK market. The wine was okay!
We went in this restaurant 12months ago when visiting the lakes and the food and service were brilliant. This time round food and service poor. After finishing our meal I would've like a dessert but after waiting 15mins or more for a member of staff to show their face I couldn't be bothered so we got the bill and left.
Staff are so lovely in this restaurant, my son ordered a pizza with blue cheese on that he did not like, they offered to change it without us requesting them to and without charge. The food was also very tasty and the restaurant cozy. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in Bowness.
