We visited for drinks one night but went for lunch the next day and had pizzas. It was one of the best pizzas I've had and very filling. Nice beers also. I think this place is now called the Tap Room now. The staff were very efficient and helpful. I have been to Bowness on Windermere a few times now and always come here for a pizza.
I had a bad experience at this pub recently. The bartender girl seemed completely untrained and acted more like uninterested summer student. They ignored me for several minutes before finally taking my order, and when they did, their behavior was rude and inappropriate. It was clear they didn't care about customer service. I won't be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant pub experience.
Note: Further to this review I was contacted by Ranya Business Development Manager for Greene King who was most apologetic for my experience. Further staff training will be put in place and dishes will now be presented with a ticket to highlight the dish has been checked. I was also given a gesture of goodwill voucher which was a nice touch.nnVisited whilst on a weeks stay in Bowness and because they have vegan options. The first thing which we were surprised at was the price of a pint of Peroni and a bottle of Brewdog Punk IPA was £11.95, we'd just been to The Quayside and a pint of Moretti and half a Neckoil was only £8.50.nnI ordered the chickenless tacos, corn ribs, mushroom chilli and a vegan Beyond burger, I stressed several times I wanted the vegan options and told the barman I was allergic to dairy.nnThe starters came and the tacos looked nothing like the description on the menu, it should have been chickenless goujons and it wasn't. We queried it and the barman had ordered the chicken tacos.... I haven't eaten chicken in decades and I felt sick at the thought I could have eaten it. I double checked on the Beyond burger to make sure they did not put dairy cheese on and thankfully this was served correctly.nnThe excuse the barman gave was the till was at fault whilst also telling me he had been in hospitality for 5 years, but I have to ask what's that got to do with it. Imagine if you had a severe allergy... I don't think they understand the horror I may have eaten meat, I know it wouldn't kill me but as a passionate vegan, this has really put me off ordering any kind of meat alternative in the future. I also make sure to memorise what the dish description is and on this occasion, it saved me the trauma of eating chicken.nnThe food was actually very nice once my correct starter was served, but it was a shame as it clouded our experience of the evening.
Josh assistant manager & the team was most welcoming for our group of 4 adults and 2 Bernedoodle dogs. Nothing was too much trouble to assisting with our needs and the dogs needs, also went out of their way to put the football on which made us feel so welcome and at home, this made the decision to stay for even longer easier. Would Definitely go again x
Whilst on holiday in Bowness on Windermere we decided to check into the Village Inn for an evening meal.nI opted for Lasagne, Julie had Gammon Steak and our daughter had Mac and Cheese.nLasagne came with salad and garlic bread which was done to perfection.nGammon steak was with chips that were done just right not too crispy or soft.nMac and cheese came with salad and garlic bread.nnReasonably priced meals with drinks and the service was great with no waiting too long at all.nnThe inside of the place was clean and nearly empty as it was not yet the time for evening lunch as we went in just before 5pm. There were some people outside having drinks.nnGive it a try as it is very reasonable and the food was great!nnEDIT:nIn response to the reply from the Village Inn - Yes we did enjoy the food and we will be back when we return next year!nThank you again.
