Just got 2 meals for an extortionate £20.60. Took it back to our holiday base & found a significant amount of hair in it as seen in the images. For lack of a better term, I live in a well done up area & it would be no more than £12-14 pounds for the same order at an award winning chippy that incidentally does not serve hair with a side of food. The staff were very dismissive & said this is not a problem - tried to suggest that it wasn’t them because the lady in the front dyed her hair. I pointed out that obviously it is a problem & that the lady in the back preparing the food did not. Absolutely disgusted & will be reporting this to the relevant food & health standard authorities.
The lady serving in here this morning 9/11/23 was super lovely, polite and attentive- she was readily willing to take the time to have a chat with us. We only ordered a portion of chips though they were fantastic: fresh and the portion was huge. Thanks!Food: 5/5
The fish was nice, but when you order a LARGE fish and chips, as a sharer you would expect something reasonable, especially for £8.15. However when I opened the box, we got the equivalent of a small fish and chips!!!!. You will see from the images I used a teabag for size comparison, and you will see LARGE in the lakes is clearly not as large as you think, and I don't use monster teabags. The picture with 2 meals shows a regular left and a large right, and I cannot see what it was I was paying for??? Its a shame as they taste great.
£26 for a meal I wouldn’t pay £6 for. ‘Large’ fish was the size of a goldfish, the chips were average at best & the peas tasted vile. The curry sauce wasn’t bad. Been laid heavy & with gut ache since 14:30 this afternoon. Big mistake.Food: 1/5
A fairly standard fish and chips, nothing overly special. Had a large portion of chips, which seemed more like a regular, two battered sausages and a curry sauce to share for two. The service wasn't particularly great as the staff seemed more focused on closing up for the evening rather than focusing on the customers.Food: 3/5
Small fish and peas and fish, chips and peas £20 wouldn't mind the price if it wasn't like a tiny trout out the beck and gressy isn't in it tastes awful and felt sick for hours after. Never will we go back.Food: 1/5
Mediocre taste and questionable portion size for the price. Service was awful the woman behind the counter was ignorant and didn’t respond to please and thank you.Certainly wasn’t made welcome, and it was empty so no real excuse. Certainly won’t be back.Food: 2/5
Excellent freshly cooked fish and chips. Sat inside as there are 3 little tables. Always go there when we visit Bowness on Windermere Parking: Parking is in a pay and display car park. Better to walk
Food was spot on for me. Small f&c's with gravy, most enjoyable. Poor lady was by herself so there was a about a 20 min wait, but fish fried fresh try saying that quickly . Weirdo family in corner, staring and talking about us for some reason, but apart from that, fab Food: 5/5
