Story

When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Hertfordshire's favourite carvery restaurant.

It's always great to visit. There's one lady that works therethat is so great. She remembers regulars, what they like. Great interaction with our little one too, even remembering what she likes. That lady makes the place what it is and is a great asset to Toby in Hemel. We'll done for employing a great person and I hope your treat her well and keep her. We will go again. Recommended.
Food: The meat and gravy were fine, but the potatoes and beans were overcooked. The waitress was nice, but we were seated next to the entrance, even though other prebooked tables remained empty for at least an hour while we were there. The cutlery felt cheap and off-putting. Overall, the experience was just okay, but we won't be returning.
My recent visit to Toby Carvery with my employees was a delightful experience. We enjoyed their delicious roast, served generously with sides. The highlight of our evening was the impeccable service provided by Fatima, our server. She greeted us warmly and ensured our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable. Toby Carvery, coupled with Fatima's exceptional service, made for a memorable outing with colleagues. Highly recommended for a satisfying meal and great hospitality.
Hadn’t had a Toby Carvery for years so looked up our nearest, which was quite a journey. The restaurant is part of a hotel beneath and the first impression wasn’t good. The maître d’ spent about 15 minutes chatting with the couple she was seating ignoring us waiting at the door. No manners or apologies when she finally came to seat us and little in the way of pleasantries.nnOnce seated it again took at least a further 15 minutes for anyone to come over to serve us and we ended up having to flag down a passing waitress who was otherwise just setting up tables with cutlery and seemed extremely annoyed that we interrupted her task!nnThe food was pretty lacklustre and whilst ample portion sizes, the vegetables and potatoes were bland and soggy to say the least. Yorkshire would be horrified at the inedible Yorkshire pudding served, which were tough as old boots. So my wife and ended plus just ate some of the meat and left.nnWasn’t the best experience to say the least and very disappointed given the effort taken to find a Toby carvery, which used to be a great place to eat. Hopefully this is just a one off, but we certainly won’t be going back and it’s put us off Toby Carvery as a branded restaurant chain for a long time…
I visited this toby carvery last night and it really was a great experience. The service was amazing. Fatima was our waitress and she made sure that my experience was the best, very knowledgable and kind. The food was brilliant. I went for a good selection of meats on the carvery and every one of them was cooked to perfection. I will 100% be returning soon. Who needs a roast at home when you’ve got this place nearby.
