When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Hertfordshire's favourite carvery restaurant.

Its a cheap and cheerful carvery. The waiting staff are nornally friendly and helpful, the chefs on the carvery not so much. 
You can get a big plate of food for about £6, is it Gordon Ramsey quality? Absolutely not, but it is a choice of 3 meats (you can have some of each), potatoes, veg, yorkshire, gravy and a range of sauces for under £10 including a soft drink refill. 

I enjoy coming here and will continue to do so.

Hands down thee worst company I have ever worked for. Slave labour is the phrase best used. Chefs are expected to work 12/13 hour shifts from 11am until (whenever they close), and every chef is expected to stay until EVERY member of staff is finished, even if they have done their job to perfection. It is one of thee most ridiculous restaurants to ever work in, full of ego-driven chefs that will never amount to nothing but bitching about their customers and consistently changing menu specifications on how to do things.

I even came back to work for them as a favour as they BEGGED me, and said I was the only chef who knew how to run mainline properly (where the starters, mains and desserts come from). Only to come into a complete MESS of a kitchen, with things that had been out of date for weeks.

I doubt this particular Toby Carvery will be in business for much longer, as they have no duty of care towards their staff OR their customers, and it is immoral and wrong. They respond to reviews with petty excuses and nothing but empty apologies. BRING your standard up, and then expect better reviews.

First time at this restaurant and I won't be going back.  Undercooked vegetables and over cooked beef that was mostly fat. At least The potatoes and gravy were nice... Staff where to busy chatting to each other so we had to go to the counter to pay as we no longer wanted to wait for the card machine.  Totally unimpressed.

We arrived at ten. W were forced to wait half an hour for food. No plates. The famous Toby poatoe dish was horrid. Like they run out of cheese or something. NOT ENOUGH WAITERS. The one girl was running around trying to clean tables and serve drinks.

I visited this Toby on the 28.01.2018.   I was there for the breakfast.

The food was good, and good value. The staff were mostly very helpful, but the building has zero ambience. This is not the fault of the people who work there, but it is at the bottom of a Premier Inn with commanding views of a main road. Great for lunch, as service is quick. No good for a celebration.
