UPDATE; JEFFREY RICHARDSON now trading as CARPHORIA in Callington, Cornwall if anyone is looking for him. Bought a car that developed a fault within three months. It was taken back but work done did not repair fault. The proprietor wouldn't take it back again but offered to replace it, when this didn't happen and a refund was refused I got it repaired myself. Took it to the small claims court and now have a CCJ against the company. The directors, Jeffery Richardson and Tracy Twine have failed to pay it and a new company has been set up called Wrangaton Car Sales to which the stock from TJ Cars has been transferred. The thing I feel most aggrieved by is having to give them one star!
Do NOT buy from TJ Cars. I purchased a car from Jeff Richardson TJ Cars that turned out to have a massive list of serious faults, including problems with the brakes. He refused to address any of the problems or comply with his legal obligations under the Consumer Rights Act. Upon attempting to pursue my claim through the small courts, I discovered that there have been a trail of similar claims against him whilst trading under different names. It appears that he refuses to pay and when the bailiffs are sent it is revealed that he keeps next to nothing in his name, so no money can be recovered. Hence, the claimant ends up even further out of pocket once the court fees are accounted for. If you ignore this warning, please at least pay directly by credit card so that you have some protection. Do NOT pay through his PayPal card reader, as that will void any right you have to make a claim on your credit card and PayPal do not offer protection for car purchases.
Bought a car which developed an immediate serious fault. Garage lied and said they’d replaced with a genuine part. When cheap part broke they have avoided all contact. Have subsequently ignored contact. We are Using citizens advice now. Avoid at all costs. We’ve been cheated.
UPDATE: Now trading as Wrangaton Car Sales Ltd at Wrangaton, South Brent. Jeff Richardson/Laycock/Other and Tracy Ann Twine are transferring stock and winding down TJ Cars previously VWAutohaus Ltd with string of outstanding CCJ's to their name, additional debts and taxes owing. Routine. Avoid dealing with these people. Further details available on Companies House. ---------------------------------------------- Stay well away. Here is your classic dodgy car salesman selling unroadworthy vehicles to unsuspecting victims. Shoddy and defective vehicles passed through auction houses and passed on. Please also note the suspicious number of 5-star 'unverified purchase' Autotrader reviews which have been left recently. It is not in Autotrader's interest to publish negative reviews and have repeatedly rejected purchasers attempts to leave negative reviews which distorts the overall rating. Don't be fooled.
Bought a what seemed to be a decent car but it broke down on the way home - twice! I wasted my time, insurance costs, tax, fuel, hassle and aggravation, Jeff's attitude was poor, he never even offered an apology. It's a pity he didn't service or check the car over properly before selling it. I can't leave zero stars but would have done if it was an option.
Did a part exchange with Jeff, very happy with the car I have. Had a fee small issues which Jeff has sorted out for me, just one small one left to finish, after the other point were completed he drove to my place of work and dropped of my car ! Good Customer Service id say.
I purchased a 2007 VW Sharan from TJ Cars recently and can honestly say the service I received was second to none Jeff was extremely fair and went the extra mile and we are really happy with our car and have confidence in the vehicle we will certainly recommend to friends.
Terrible experience. I certainly would not buy from here again and I found the lack of any customer service or honesty once a problem had developed with the car I purchased particularly disturbing.
T j cars do not trade out of this unit any more its the somerset removal company store now
AVOID!! Active proposal to strike off. Director is a frequent name changer. Not to be trusted.
