I was sent a car from Thrifty through Range Rover and this was the worst car hire experience. The car i received was damaged and extremely dirty it even had weed in it!!! When calling to sort out this issue i found the staff unhelpful and very rude. To make it all worse a week later money was taken from my account from Thrifty with no correspondence. I would not recommend this car hire company to anyone as my experience with them was a disgrace.
Worst Experience Ever. Following a car accident, I have received a hire car from Thrifty expecting a nice stress free experience. The new 2020 plate car I received already had 3 wheels curbed and a rear side panel scratched which the person dropping the car off was not aware of. After taking pictures of damage and recording it on their work tablet, I thought at least nothing will come back as my fault. 2 weeks later, car was taken away where again I have informed the person collecting the car about the scratch I have found and the worker states that the picture taken was not very clear. Few days later I received a claim from my insurance stating I have caused damage to the hire vehicle and will be liable, have to pay for repair and my No Claims Bonus will be affected. Having to complain and appeal against the claim I won and the claim ended up being closed. Be careful when using this service. Take Pictures before hand for evidence. Staff on the phone are very rude and not helpful. They do not listen to any problems and will blame everyone but them for any damage.
Very impressed! I booked a car from NZ and everything went very smoothly when I got to London. The employee was extremely helpful, unfortunately I can't recall his name but I picked up the car mid-morning on Friday 27 Sept and he was excellent, really good customer service. The car was great, rates good and I'll definitely be using this place in future. Thank you.
Make sure you photograph every bit of detail of the car when you collect, as I was incorrectly charge for a very small scrape on a wheel hub, measuring in milimeters. I had no case of defence, as it wasn't recorded when I collected. This was after spending a good amount of money for a car, which I didn't get. Be also aware that the location states Kensington, but it's out on the A40, nowhere near. I won't be using Thrifty again. Daylight robbery.
Lovely friendly staff, very helpful and were brilliant at giving me the best deal possible. Very easy location to get to plus there is an Asda nearby that offers cheap petrol , very useful as you need to fill up before you return. I highly recommend and will definitely be using them again
I have rented cars from this branch multiple times, never had any issues like in the other reviews, always book online as you get a discount. On a couple of occasions I've actually been upgraded, I've rented from other companies like enterprise and while I have no complaints about them my preference is this branch of thrifty. Check the terms and conditions before booking as they differ between companys and with any rental company always inspect the car yourself and point out any scratches or marks before signing paperwork. If you do your research you shouldn't have any issues, I can highly recommend thrifty and this branch.
I have used this branch of Thrifty three times now. There are positive aspects and negative aspects to this company. The negatives outweigh the positive. These are the things that you need to know if you are considering using this company. Firstly, if you book and pay up front you will save 20-30% on the originally quoted cost. I assume that this is why they call themselves "Thrifty". If you are lucky as I was for one of the three times I used this company then this early-booking and payment price will be the only cost you incur. HOWEVER. This is not how things will normally pan out as Thrifty follow a set of rules that ensure that they can 'nickel and dime' their way back to costing as much as other, more reputable, vehicle hire companies. If you are unlucky then they'll end up costing you more. I can echo the comments made by others about wheel rim scuffs. Thrifty spend the majority of their inspection time upon car return going over the surface of the wheel rims looking for any scratch they can find as they know that even the smallest scuff invalidates the 'no damage' condition and thus enables them to hold on to some or all of the deposit. Having witnessed them doing this first hand twice and getting stung by it once, I opted to pay up front for full insurance cover ahead of my last rental to cover any and all damage. However, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY even though Thrifty make you enter the anticipated distance that you will travel during your care hire, this data is not reflected in the price estimate for the hire. Their website is bad at best and misleading at worst on this front. It is this confusing design in their website that leads to the shock of finding out that in the small print they reserve the right to charge you for any and all miles that you drive over and above 500 miles per week . 500 miles per week is not a lot. It means that when you enter into a 7-day hire, you are limited just 71 miles per day on average or 1 hour of motorway driving per day! Every additional mile above 500 per week is charged at 15 pence. This adds up with even only moderate distances driven over time. Soon the Thrifty hire is no longer the cheap option any more, even if you have the fortune to not acquire a 2mm long scratch to the wheel rim while driving. So in summary, I've used Thrifty three times but there will not be a fourth. The economics of choosing Thrifty are generally not good for the customer and I couldn't recommend them.
Ten day rental in June. The car was a good BMW no complaints about that. But, the 85 Pound 'damage' fee for scuff marks on the tires was a bit much. Never heard of such a thing before. The agent spent 10 minutes examining every minute detail on the car and I guess this is what they do to get extra cash from unsuspecting punters like me. So, if you rent from there, take photographs before so you have something to work with after. Other than that, no complaints. Oh, and you'll need to take a cab to get to and from the agency - it is on A40.
I've rented a couple of cars from here, because the range and some of the prices are better than entetprise but the devil is in the detail, you see i got a little dent and quite a brush on the rear wheel arch and door now at enterpise that sort of scuff would cost £500.00 thrifty required full excess of £1250.00 now i kept phoning for the full damage breakdown reciept which show the actual cost of each job on the car, As i had excess protection, it took two weeks to get this from thrifty who at first said they were charging the full amount, the final breakdown was £1074.00 i had to enquire, then i get a £42.00 for a letter about a contravention that I'm disputing. That also I'll have to chase up to get my money back. To be honest, enterprise do not charge for wheel scuffs or damage that does not exceed 20mm, I'll be going back to enterprise in the future.
This is the best car rental I ever have. I'm one of their customers for 2 years and enjoying it.. if you get £13 insurance, they wont charge you for anything. Also they got best new prestigious cars
