I first discovered Matt Brinkley in 2020. Following a traumatic brain injury, I spent 6 months in hospital, and was released early, as the UK went into COVID lockdown.nnMatt was one of the instructors delivering weekly online sessions for Different Strokes. These sessions were invaluable to me and many others at this time - the sessions kept me healthy too, both physically and mentally.nMatt's caring, gentle, persona is one of his key strengths and he has years of expertise working with people living with many different conditions.nnAt the end of 2021, my remaining NHS community support ended. My confidence, self-esteem & the ability to manage physical and cognitive effects of the TBI, were extremely low. I was thrilled to discover the Therapy Gym at Holton St Mary - A 60-mile round trip to attend the Therapy Gym for a 1:1 session - it was my salvation! For 2 years I have attended monthly 1:1's with Matt, alongside learning to swim again, Paddleboarding canoe & Balance classes.nnWith Matt's valued and encouraging help, I have built confidence, strength, self-esteem, balance and coping strategies for life post-brain injury. No 2 sessions have ever been the same, so they are always enjoyable and I have many ideas of things I can do at home.n2024 brings a new change, as I have joined a mainstream gym closer to home and will only have quarterly 1:1 sessions from now on.nnThank you so much Matt, for all the support, encouragement, training, chats, laughter, information and motivation. Matt and his team have provided fantastic online exercise sessions to us for the past couple of years.  The sessions are tailored perfectly to the needs of our beneficiaries, and they have been of great benefit to many stroke survivors who have watched them.  As well as providing highly valuable content in these sessions, Matt and his colleagues are very personable and always make them interesting, and it has been a joy to work with them.  I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Matt has worked with my 13 year old son for many years to help his strength & balance due to his Cerebral Palsy.nMatt is fantastic, he makes training fun & exciting, he adapts his routines depending on my sons moods & tiredness.nThe difference Matt has made to my sons mobility, strength & fitness is incredible.nYou will never find a more dedicated, kind & enthusiastic Personal trainer than Matt.

Matt delivered us a whole team training session on Adaptive Movement and it was fantastic. Tailored for the needs of our company, really professional, informative and lots of practical examples. Everyone left feeling more confident about how to encourage safe movement and how to adapt it to the needs of all our clients.  Highly recommend.

Matt provides a brilliant service by visiting us at Headway Essex - Benfleet Hub Day Centre to provide an accessible exercise session bi-weekly. He easily builds a trusting relationship with our service users and, whilst running the session as a group, he is able to work with each individual to ensure the exercise is beneficial to them and appropriate based on their abilities.
