Perhaps the reception team are more welcoming and polite to people who are members or staying guests. It wasn't busy at all. I arrived to try and eat and get a drink there as I had been working nearby. I was told that they only accept "members" or staying guests. The entry area of a once elegant private residence now resembles a squat occupied by wannabe artists. It is a bizarrely decorated place with bare, untreated floorboards. Outside there is signage that resembles an old hospital site. I'm sure that they could advertise more clearly that non-members and those not staying as residents aren't welcome. The income could go towards some needed maintenance. This place could be lovely, but sadly it really isn't.
Worst hotel in the world. Made us pay twice and would not let us speak to customer service to get a refund.
Having a rant I live just outside this hotel and my country lane is flooded so I politely asked if I could use there exit so I could go to work and was refused surely in an emergency it would have been the neighbourly thing to do shame on you
No TVs or tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms!? Apparently Management are getting a lot of complaints about it but are sticking with this very bizarre decision. Lots of building work going on but the hotel is largely unaffected. The current ‘bar menu’ is basic although the sandwich I had was nice. Difficult to listen to the news/TV whilst surround sound music is playing. There’s currently only 1 communal space the bar area so very restricted and no proper tables to sit at for dinner. Your choice is either a high bar stool or a low table. So disappointed. Beautiful grounds but can’t say I’d be in a rush to stay here again.... do your research before booking this hotel
Very comfortable beds. Very well looked after. Bathrooms are very nice, and they give away disposables which is handy. Didn't have any issues. Stayed in the main building and also the barn on a different night; it's an alright walk to the barn. Very good price for the time of year. Breakfast was fairly average. Dinner menu wasn't bad but quite limited.
Excellent conference facilities, well set out, with great configuration of spaces. Coffee and sweat pastry selection was a bit of a flop when we did stop for break, was not there as promised, only coffee. Lunch was very nice a large selection all fresh and well presented. The venue is set in small parkland setting with lovely outdoor space. The tree house is fantastic. Easy to access from the M25 with fairly good availability.
I booked this hotel through my employer's travel management company. The room had been freshly refurbished to a high standard however there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, no TV and no desk. Totally unsuitable for business accommodation, in my opinion. The only food available was extremely simple, but very expensive bar food, served by seemingly inexperienced staff. I am a Type 1 Diabetic and during the night I unfortunately had a hypoglycemic episode. I didn't have any food in the room and because there was no phone in the room either, I had to stagger a long way to Reception. Eventually I found the receptionist who provided me with biscuits and then left me!!! The only positive part of my stay was breakfast the following morning, albeit you have to walk across to another building to get it. The food was great and was served by very pleasant and helpful staff; unlike the Receptionists and staff in the bar!
Brilliant! As advertised. Spacious room. Fabulous quirky furnishings. Very comfortable bed. Instant plentiful hot water. Controllable heating. Peaceful setting. Very faint murmur of traffic not at all intrusive. Great value at £44 for 'single' roomRooms: 4/5
Beautiful estate with lots of greenery, a river, and flowers. The building was a little outdated which you particularly notice in the corridors but the rooms were relatively modern and clean. Good facilities with a coffee machine available to use anytime, a basic gym, and a restaurant. The breakfast and the lunch both had very healthy options which I appreciate. In addition there are loads of fully equpped conference and meeting rooms for businesses, literally about 40. Definitely an excellent place to hold meetings or conferences. Considering its prices, its probably the best place to stay in the area.
This hotel is tucked away and has beautiful woods and scenery. It's quite and I liked the fact you can explore the area, I found some awesome stuff while exploring and along with lots of wildlife. The tree house was beautiful and had a lovely view of the main house. The rooms were nice I do wish the bath was deeper, was a big bathroom and the room was a decent size. The beds were comfy and The view was nice and peaceful. The atmosphere of the entrance and seating area is very relaxing and make me feel at ease. There is free tea and coffee in the temple bar. The staff are amazing i was feeling unwell while staying and they gave me very personal life changing advice which I'm so greatful for. I would recommend and hope to stay again with my dog next time as well behaved dogs and cats are allowed here.
