Theobalds Park Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Story

This campsite is just to the north of England's capital in the home county of Hertfordshire, with the bright lights of London in easy reach.

The secluded, woodland setting of our Theobalds Park Club campsite belies its location just inside London’s orbital M25 motorway. Although just off the M25 the campsite is in the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside. The nearby Lee Valley Park will appeal to nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and fishermen. While further west woodland, grassland, heath, rivers and ponds make up the vast expanse of Epping Forest, the largest public open space in the London area.

This well laid out, level campsite offers open camping areas and a choice of grass and hard stand pitches. Modern facilities, a children’s play area and dog walk service the needs of all types of camper.

At just 15 miles from the capital this campsite is an excellent base from which to explore London. Catch a train from Waltham Cross to enjoy the city’s fantastic shopping, varied eateries and bars and landmarks such as Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Olympic Park and more

We were attending a 70th birthday party at Enfield Golf Club & opted to stay here for 1 night as opposed to the local Travelodge....nPleasant welcome from Denise, even though we're members of the 'other' club, spacious site, with very good shower block.....nWe used a local taxi firm, Waltham Cross Taxis who were very efficient & cheaper than Uber to transport us to/from event.nPre-booked in the morning & arrived well in time for our requested pick up times....
What a truly amazing site on the outskirts of London . A little gem if you are visiting London , or like me , just wanted to escape and have a peaceful bank holiday weekend . Staff amazing , Denise and her partner super helpful . Grounds very well maintained . Grass pitch firm for this time of the year . Facilities spotless .love the hot showers and toilets so clean . Lovely walks nearby and a pub , Pied Bull , 29 mins walk away . Site surrounded by woods and trees so hardly any noise from M25 , which you get used to . My first stay at a C&CC despite being a member for a year . Will renew again based on this stay . Special offer using grass and no ehu , works out about £11 a night bargain . Would not have quibbled paying more . If more sites are like this I will dump the CAMC .
The worst treatment my whole camping experience. We arrived around 9 pm with 2 small children. The team from the reception was at site, and they didn't let us in and even to stay at the parking lot. I've called several times in the early afternoon, but they didn't pick up the phone! Such a bad impression can leave non decision maker, non helpful, maligant representativ.
My dad stayed at Theobalds campsite from 5th to 8th July and unfortunately would not recommend it. During the call before checking-in, the lady on the phone didn't really listen to my questions and wasn't generally kind. It was also unfortunate that everyday between 11pm and 7am the gate to the campsite is completely shut, and the staff even advises returning by 10:45pm to ensure access. To my dad exploring London during the night would be a great attraction, but he could not do this due to the limited access. He originally planned to go for a speedway match between Scunthorpe Scorpions and Glasgow Tigres at Scunthorpe. The match was scheduled for 7:30pm-10pm and because that's 2 hours away from London he didn't go as he would not be able to reach the campsite by 10:45/11pm. He stayed at other campsites including at Poole, where there were no access restrictions at any time. He didn't have a proper campsite cable to connect to electricity and the friendly staff at Poole lent him the cable during the stay without additional changes, while at Theobalds he was directed to a local store. Other facilities including kitchen sink, showers and toilets were clean, but given limited access and not a friendly/helpful staff he would not choose this site again.
The staff are TERRIBLE, very rude, are liers, AVOID AVOID AVOID, I'm disabled and requested a pitch close to the shower block and was told all the other pitches where reservedpitches cannot be reserved and they couldn't have put me at a pitch further if they tried, locked the disabled facilities and told me they where out of order, I had to phone head office for to find out they weren't out of order and shouldn't have been locked. Wouldn't allow my young family to use the family bathroom with the same excuse. I believe they just didn't want the work of cleaning them. When I asked for the code for the gate was told we won't know it until tomorrow another lie, when I explained for the 5th time I was disabled, Jane laughed into my face even after I had the embarrassment of having to prove my disabilities. I would never stay here again and I'll voice my opinion to everyone I can. There is full timers at the bottom of the camp and not even one of them has a good word to say about Jane.nThis camp for the time I've been here has been nearly empty and in a prime location and couldn't figure out why but believe me I now know, I wouldn't think anyone would return here. Please save yourself embarrassment and disappointment, book elsewhere.
