Theatro Technis

About

Founded in 1957 in Camden, Theatro Technis is one of London's leading fringe theatre venues. Neither commercial nor subsidised, we believe that the spirit of creativity cannot be sold.

Story

Teatro Technis stands on the cusp of evolution. For the last 59 years we have warmly embraced change; the call of innovation and dedication leading us from a Camden garage in the 60's, and a disused railway shed in the 70's, to our current location, the converted old church house and hall of St Pancras in Camden.

Encouraging new voices, talents and creative partnerships, we welcome young and unestablished artists as well as actors from known companies. By welcoming diversity we achieve the aim of every theatre: to represent the whole world on stage. Since the artistic director, George Eugeniou, comes from Cyprus we are particularly attached to promote Cypriot culture and arts. To learn more about him, you can visit his wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Eugeniou.

Theatro Technis is also a convenient base for those wishing to hire the venue and its varied facilities. For films crews, we have newly refurbished offices with up-to-date equipment; for production companies, a large equipped sound studio, whilst more businesses and private groups are discovering how our theatre -with its large space and bar- can be turned into a fully functional conference or seminar venue.

Gorgeous venue. Small theatre with really friendly staff. Comfortable setting for theatre shows. The bar is also reasonably priced and offers a good range of drinks
Four stars for a fabulous show with a wonderful atmosphere in this intimate setting. Friendly staff and great prices at the well-stocked small bar. But the folding seats collapsed on the back row when we stood up, so we lost things as they slid off and we had, with difficulty, to crawl behind and below the raised seating to retrieve them. Not easy! However, that didn’t detract from a brilliant evening out.
Wr went to see "the suitcase losing famagusta" perfect for people that want to learn about the Turkish invasion of cyprus. Lorna was magnificent. Not a dry eye in the house.
A little gem of a theatre in Camden, with always friendly and helpful staff. There's a small but well stocked bar, several unisex toilets and the theatre space itself is well equipped with decent seating and good acoustics. Theres even plenty outside tables for hanging out before and during intervals. I don't go often but it's always an uplifting experience. Lots of small independent productions play here so keep an eye on companies such as Komola Collective this time we saw their production Indigo Giant which was incredibly good.
A great arts space and the home of Scene and Heard performances.
Such a lovely, intimate theatre. We saw Mrs Caliban put on my Central School of Speech and Drama, which was truly amazing.
Small community theater. Holds approx 120. Good quality bar. Camden prices. Great show.
A really nice theatre. A great performance in a modern setting of a mid summer nights dream. The front of stage staff are very friendly and helpful. Quite an immerse experience in reality and plenty of choices of places to sit. Drinks and coffee were really great value. If the toilets were better this would have been a 5 star review.
Old venue, needs updating, a lick of paint and better organising of the bar. The smoking area outside is cluttered, needs a good tidying up. Very friendly staff at the bar, maybe not that well trained. That being said, it didn't compromise the amazing experience we had watching Renew Your Hallelujah! Great night!!!
It's really an old church, that's been turned into an in the round theatre. The foyer's small, with a small bar and adequate toilets. The productions are what I would call alternative/bizarre fringe. The play I saw 'Dear Elizabeth', was adequate, but amateurish in my opinion.
