Story

The Wilfred Wood opened it's doors to locals on September 10th 2010. This JD Wetherspoons outlet is named after Wilfred Wood, a war hero who received the Victoria Cross for his heroics on the Italian front against the Austro-Hungarian forces in the First World War.

Like all JD Wetherspoons we offer a hugh variety of drinks which include wines, lagers, spirits to name a few and we are cask marque accredited so offer you the best tasting ales.

Our extensive food menu has something for everyone. Whether it be a snack or more of a main meal our menu will have something to suit. We have our famous club nights, steak club on Tuesday, 'Wing It' Wednesdays, Curry club on Thursday, Fish Fridays and Sunday club also. Each meal comes with a drink.

At the weekends The Wilfred Wood makes for a great evening. Whether you are after a quiet drink or to have a great evening with friends the Wilfred Wood has excellent offers on food and drink.

We come here regularly for early doors. The food always very good and well presented. Great value for money. We have now started to come on occasion for morning breakfast on a Sunday. What great value. A full English breakfast for two with filter coffee and 2 orange' juice (coffee free refills) all for just around £12 best value around. This is what Sunday morning should be, no pots or pans,just you and the papers, with breakfast cooked for you. What more do you need (oh happy days)

As always a perfectly acceptable venue from JD Wetherspoons. It's large, clean and the staff are friendly. Until recently I had only been there to drink, where the beer always tasted good and fresh while being reasonably priced. Recently I had a bite to eat there, portions aren't huge, they are acceptable as a lunch time meal, but not so much as a main meal of the day. The chips are amazing, some of the food tasted a little processed and not to fresh but the price is right, the grill wasn't great at all. There is a car park to the rear of the venue but isn't the easiest to find, take a look and you'll find it. It's also free to park so well worth looking for it as many of the streets are permit only and wardens are rife.

Starting to get a bit tatty round the edges, but still reasonable value for money and staff very friendly, a few more glass collectors and staff clearing tables of food plates would help. Several real ales and great selection of largers, bottled and draft, spirits good value with free mixer, nice outside area for when the rain stops! All in all a good place to eat, drink and chat.

Good service and polite staff. Food is good and as it's a wetherspoon's at a reasonable price. Not had a bad meal and we come here a lot!
