Story

True to style this 1770’s pub has been sympathetically renovated so that, whilst effortlessly stylish, it has kept its character and charm referencing a design theme relevant to the era of the building.

…..The Industrial Revolution! With snugs named after Arkwright and other contemporary Industrialists and fabrics and bric-a- brac of relevance, the ‘Spread’ boasts an intriguing refurbishment that offers some fresh ideas without straying far from the Great British Classic Pub.

The Almond’s reputation has been built on excellent carvery meals, coupled with family friendly service and the pubs have the awards to prove it! The Spread Eagle is sure to be a local carvery pub Romiley can be proud of.

My Sister, Brother and I enjoyed a very pleasant lunch at The Stead Eagle. The staff are extremely friendly and fun! Food wise we tried the Carvery; fantastic choice, fresh and delicious! Service for drinks was very good too! We will go again, definitely!
Everything is good. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly and pretty staff. Foods are presented very nice. I ordered battered fish for my son and the battered layer is thin and crispy. It’s really amazing. We definitely will come again.
We ate here on Saturday 11.10.25. A big family group of 11. Age range 14 months -65 . Every one of us had great food, some carvery eaters, others chose from the menu. The staff were amazing Trish as always, efficient and hugely accommodating. Even though it was quite busy, nothing was too much trouble. I personally recommend the carvery. It is amazing and the chef had added a shepherd's pie as a meat option, together with beef, Turkey, Chinese pork and roast pork. So glad I chose to have some. Delicious! Our go-to eatery, especially when family come to visit. Thank you and very well done all of you.
I felt under the weather maybe even onset of man flu so my body craved good wholesome veg so I think the team has practically saved my life. Again great food and service.
Had a lovely afternoon carvery/birthday meal for our grandson. I was greeted at the door on Arrival by a lovely, smiling young girl. Her name was Liv. She took the largest birthday cake from me and told me to let her know when we were ready to let our grandson blow out his candles. She proceded to show us a party of 10 to our table in the conservatory. She took our order for food/ drink. We had a fabulous carvery. The food is excellent quality . Liv then arrived with the cake,my grandsons face was a picture the staff sang happy birthday and we all joined in. What a fabulous time we had and my grandson won't forget. Neither shall we. We're already talking about a return visit very very soon. Thank you to all who made sunday 28th September a very special memorable afternoon
