Check in time any time from 2.30pm. Gave heads up that we would be there between 4-5pm. Arrived 4.30pm and room wasn't ready! Had to sit in bar and wait which took over an hour. As we had planned to get back to hotel after our day out and eat, while sat waiting we asked to see menu, only to be told that they wasn't doing food as the chef had walked out at the last minute. We then had to go out and look for somewhere else to eat. By the time we did it was nearly 7pm before we ate and we had 3 very grumpy kids! When we got back and had access to the room- which was supposed to be the family room, we encountered the following issues: 1) Very, Very outdated. In need of a full upgrade. 2) Bath hadn't been cleaned, so wasn't sure if the sink and toilet had been either. 3) Damp & mould round bath/shower. 4) Shower had dirty used bottles on the stand. 5) No Hand soap 6) The bunk beds were really wobbly and ricoty. 7) No tea spoons and not enough cups and milk for hot drink facility. 8) Radiator not working so had but a convector heater in there but it wasn't enclosed and getting my 2 year old to not touch it was an issue. A real burn issue and shouldn't be in a family room! 9) floor boards near window were broken and had hole in it. My hubby stood on it and his foot went down. Safe to say we had to try keep the kids away from that area. 10) View was appalling, we were at the back which when you looked out of the window looked like a scrap yard/dump. 11) The carpet didn't look as if it had been hoovered properly. To add the overall place was very dark and with a partially sighted hubby who cannot see in the dark, it proved very difficult. At the morning we spoke to another couple who were just as appauld as us. They said they had no towels in there room when they arrived! They were supposed to be staying an additional night, but we saw them leave with their luggage not long after breakfast. The breakfast was served in the conservatory but this had no heating and was freezing! To add, the boiler was not working so not hot water for tea/coffee. The manager (a lad not that old, maybe 30's) said he had only been there a few months and could only work with what he had. He said the owners were not willing to put any money into it. He was apologetic and agreed that some of the issue were basic and expected and he wasn't impressed himself. He said he was looking to replace his housekeeper. For the trouble he didn't charge us for the breakfast and did the room half price for us.

Absolutely disgraceful. Mold all over the bathroom, a bed room with no radiator and a floor that has not been cleaned in a millennium. Would.not recommend to a homeless person. £ 70 per room
