Story

The White Horse is a delightful old pub in Hatching Green. Five minutes from the bustling centre of Harpenden on the one hand & Junction 9 of the M1 on the other, the pub has a lovely country setting, surrounded by a large leafy garden & terrace.

The bar is warm & cosy, with old parquet & low beams hung with antique copper jugs, while the dining room is light & fresh, its French windows opening onto a sunny terrace. In our charming private dining room, up a winding stair in the oldest part of the pub, we can comfortably host a dinner party for twelve.

Food was really nice. The menu was fairly limited in terms of main courses but there is also a specials board and the wine list was extensive and good quality. The highlight for me was the cheeseboard option for desert, where you could pick which and how many pieces of cheese you want. Ideal when you don't want a stodgy pudding. Nice bar and restaurant areas and friendly service.

Great place for lunch on a summer's day. There was a large group of us and they were very accommodating. Just be aware that we had to order in advance because we were a large party.

Just wow. The food was incredible and service was perfect. Very impressed with The White Horse team, clearly a bright bunch who know what they're doing. Our food came out in good time and the flavour combinations were impeccable. Price was good considering the quality of the food and service.

Lovely pub in nice area and setting. Outdoor seating weather permitting..Outdoor seating with heaters too. Large choice of different drinks. But most people I guess , come for the fantastic food.served by a real chef. This is not your standard fry food pub. Here you get quality.

Always great service and I love their wine. There are very few pub restaurants that actually do good wine. But the White Horse does. The food is great too.
