Nice staff, decent breakfast, functional room and free WiFi. The room we had worked. The bed was firm, clean sheets as you'd expect and the bathroom did its job. However, everything is just a little tired and dated. The decor is in need of updating and the plastic sink is very crazed and shabby. A shower in the bath is adequate but a plastic shower curtain is not really what you expect from a hotel in 2018.

One of the biggest pluses was the free WiFi. Not quite fibre speed at about 17mbs but it was consistent and overall much better than most other hotels we'd stayed in.

All in all, deserving of its three star status.

Had our wedding at this venue in July 2017, I must say the grounds are lovely and I was generally happy with the look of the venue (from the outside). However, the hotel staff and management are extremely poor. Our wedding coordinator changed 3 times within the year of planning which meant starting from scratch each time, anyone planning a wedding will know how frustrating this alone can be.

I was warned about poor room booking management so I went over and over with the room lists with them before the wedding yet they majorly failed us and our guests on the day. I was not giving the bridal room initially shown,  rooms were double booked - leaving some guests room-less, people were being given keys to rooms that were already occupied, there was no hot water in one whole block from Friday through to Sunday. In addition, friends found cockroaches in there room! This is just to name a few! The hotel is extremely dated too.

The hotel staff were accommodating in terms of giving us early access to the venue and storing items for us. However, on the day of our wedding our evening reception was cut short meaning we had to skip our last dance altogether. They also forced my family to clear out the marquee straight after the reception in the pouring rain despite previous agreement of this being cleared in the morning.

The venue, poor management and staff was the only thing that let us down throughout the wedding period and on the wedding day itself. I have been contacting them to resolve this issue since returning from my honeymoon but have had no luck with getting a response or solution. 

I’ve noticed they have deleted their reviews off their Facebook page too!

The room was very clean, warm and tidy. Food was good if a little bit over priced. Would visit again if the need arose.

Had a lovely luxury afternoon tea for 3. A mixture of sandwhiches, 2 warmed scones each with clotted cream and jam, chocolate brownies, carrot and walnut cake and a lovely piece of cheese cake. All served with unlimited tea and fruit juice. Beautifully attended by Emily. We even brought some home as we were so full! At least half the price of a lot of other places we had looked at.    I would go again.

I found that the price of £70 is not value for money. Setting of the hotel is beautiful but it  needs updating in certain areas. We have a disabled mother and the hotel has not made any provision for wheel chair access. Not child friendly either as no play area for them. These are very important issues as a wedding venue. 👎👎
