Variety of craft beers , tasty food and nice service . Place is a bit dark and narrow, but you will still enjoy yourself.Food: 5/5
Always a great spot for a night out with friends, it boasts a lively beer garden, great selection of local craft beers and IPAs, international beers and a wide selection of spirits. New cocktails and their taqueria provides in-house Mexican food that's worth the visit alone. Great music, lovely staff, ideal for those summer evenings, or a cheeky afternoon catch-up.
Absolutely outrageous prices. A Bombay and tonic, and a pint of Guinness - €16.10. I used to come here for years, but this price is a joke.
I have been here many times over the years. All has been fine but was in here a few days ago, I ordered 2 pints all good. Then went to buy another round the bar staff was having issue with the tap the pint was all head. Anyway eventually he manages to get a good pint then I see there is lipstick on the glass. I take it back ask for another. These things happen no big deal just get another pint. What he then did was the strangest thing I've ever seen bar staff do. He began to gather all the failed attempts at pints from earlier and start making a pint from that. Like that's disgusting. Pour one from the tap don't assemble one. Felt really strange left it outside on the table and just left. Like wtf Update: several months later I approached the door with my partner on a Friday night after going for dinner. I walked towards the door the security staff on the door a young guy about 20. He did not move I said hello he squinted his face looked at my partner and said eh no. We enquired what he meant he Clarified he said she was wearing tracksuit pants. My partner informed him they were in fact not tracksuit pants they just had a cuffed leg. He then tilted his body half way down in an insulting manner and said again by squinting his face no it’s too close to a tracksuit. No apology, no shifting of position after realising he was wrong. I had to call my friend who was inside to leave their pint to come join us as we were not welcome. With that and the past experience in mind I am lowering the review. I went to the pub around the corner the roundy. Much better pub and much better craic. It’s funny how the two other pubs I went to the roundy and mutton lane had no problems what so ever. Seems like the security guy was either new or on a bit of a power trip. Odd position for a dive bar to hold. I would say go to most other pubs, roundy, mutton lane, the oval, fran well. Save your self time and go to one of these far superior bars.
Top 10 on my Cork's pub list. They serving food as well....who not at this stage. Great place for mid-day quite pint and lively evening spot with very small but cosy backgarden.Food: 4/5
Good cocktails, nice vibes, heated outdoor seats are great
Nice alternative pub. Good staff and good atmosphere
I am writing this because on 2 September 2022 last Friday, I felt discriminated against by one of the bouncers of this bar. I am talking especially of the Irish guy because there was another bouncer from another country who was gentle. However, I can not say the same about the Irish one. I was having a drink inside, and my tobacco was gone. So I decided to go to buy tobacco at the corner. However, when I got back from shopping to get into the bar again. I got stopped by the Irish bouncer, who did not let me in because I was wearing joggers. I explained to him the situation that I was already inside, having a beer waiting for me, and that I had just gone to get tobacco. But, he did not understand me, not having anything of the criteria of the situation. One of the excuses he gave me was that the owner saw me on the CCTV, and the owner did not let me in. Sorry, but such a ridiculous argument because I can not comprehend why the Vicarstown Bar owner does not want to sell more. Even though I was already there consuming and spending my money in such a low-class bar. In addition, It is true that I was wearing joggers, but come on, I wasn´t dressing like a criminal. I dressed in joggers that day because I had gathered with my GF in the city centre earlier, and we decided spontaneously to have a drink, but definitely, we chose wrongly the place to have one. I just wanted to say that I am disappointed with this bar a place where I used to go. However, I wouldn´t go there anymore. I firmly do not recommend people to go there because you could have the same experience as me if you wear something inappropriate for them. According to the food and the services, they are not good enough for the money they charge. I paid 12,5 Euros for an Irish coffee without cream. Thanks.
Bouncers need to be educated on men's pants, just because they aren't wearing jeans doesn't mean the pants they have on must be tracksuits. Maybe concentrate on more important aspects of the job instead of what people are wearing??Service: 1/5
One of my favourite Cork bars. The cocktail menu is always amazing, great atmosphere and friendly staff.Service: 5/5
