The Oval
"Located on the corner of historic South Main Street and Tuckey Street, the Oval is named for its stunning interior ceiling – a central feature of this particular premises – and is one of the most popular pubs in Cork. The venue was custom designed by an Edinburgh-based firm of architects on behalf of the Beamish and Crawford brewery, which previously operated across the street, and its Sino-Celtic style is clearly reminiscent of Mackintosh as a result.Incredibly, the Oval is still in its original condition and is the only pub in Cork to be included on a list of important 20th Century buildings within the city limits. It has an open fire and generally smells of a heady mixture of peat and whiskey!"

Great old style Irish pub. Dark, lots of wood and good Guinness. If you are a tourist and looking for a traditional Irish pub, you just found it. Keep an eye on Murphy's stout. Almost no chance to find it on the west coast!
Lovely public house. Lots of seating options from the bar to the nook to a variety of table sizes. Best pint of Beamish you’ll find. Bartenders are friendly and quick. The place was full of locals, and as a tourist I wasn’t made to feel out of place one bit. Also saw dogs were welcome, which was grand to see. Wish this was my local pub. Top marks all around!
For some of the best beamish and Guinness in Cork City this is the spot, lots of seating outside for those summer months, and also the perfect cozy interior for the winter months especially if you're lucky enough to get the seats by the fire Service is always quick and they know their stuff.Service: 5/5
I was served a beautifully poured pint of Guinness here, just slightly too cold, so close to being the perfect place to get a Guinness in Cork!Food: 4/5
Fantastic traditional pub with a good selection of drinks. Great pint of Beamish and a good atmosphere as well. Bigger than it looks from the outside with outdoor seating as well.Food: 5/5
Nice pint and a great little bar. Myself and 15 friends came i here drinking and the barmaid gave out to us for standing in the middle of the floor. I dont know where she wanted id to stand the bar only holds 50 people and it was a busy Saturday night. We had one pint and left. It was very disappointing.
A great pub of Cork city. Over 100 years old and started off as a pub owned by the nearby Beamish and Crawford brewery. Interior left untouched as it was 100 years ago. One of few pubs in city still with a fire. Great selection of beers.
A very cool and oldstyle pub. Perfect for a pint or lots of pints
Lovely old school pub! Great beer selection, friendly staff. The fireplace is a great spot to sit.
Bartender was awesome, and the place itself was a perfect hang out. I'd be a regular if I lived in Cork. This pub was on my list of "must see spots" for our trip to Cork, and it did not disappoint. Beyond the fact it's visually amazing with all sorts of nooks and crannies to sit in, our bartender was super personable and we had a great time visiting with him. We'd arrived just as he'd opened the doors for the day, and he chatted with us as he finished his set up. We ended up staying for more than one because of his great service. He was saying that on a Saturday night it gets quite packed and busy, so we were glad to be there in the afternoon.
