Excellent restaurant in an unusual setting. Perfect repurposing of the old station building. Varied menu with traditional dishes and chef specials. Fair pricing and really good food. Very handy for campervans staying at the rugby club overnight.nI had a chicken tikka pathia which was excellent.nIt is obviously popular as was very busy even on a Tuesday early evening, they also do takeaways
We went on the “Passage to India” from Newcastle to Corbridge. This is a train that takes you to the Valley restaurant. We were met at the station by the restaurant manager, who gave us our tickets and escorted us to the train going to Corbridge. When we were on the train, we were offered the option to buy drinks, which would be added to our final bill could do with some cool blocks in the drinks box to keep them cold. We were given menus to decide what we wanted to order prior to arriving, and the order was sent to the restaurant ahead of us arriving. Once we arrived at Corbridge station, we were escorted to the restaurant, which is on the station platform. The staff were friendly and helpful when they greeted us upon arrival. The food was fabulous; we didn’t have to wait long as our order was already taken prior to our arrival. Once we finished, we were escorted to a door that opened to the train station platform for our departure. All in all, it was a lovely experience. Massive thank you to all the staff for making this a memorable experience for my wife and me.
We had a great welcome by friendly staff.nWe have been looking forward to visting this restaurant for some time we love 90 miles away and found that the service to be efficient and the staff very polite.nThe menu is very comprehensive and contains dishes that you do not always see in other establishments.nThe food was all freshly prepared and was a cut above similar restaurants.nIf in the area again we will return.nAll in all a delightful total meal experience.
What a wonderful experience we have had. From start to finish everything was great. Our drinks were served to us in the reception area. Once our table was ready we were escorted upstairs to the restaurant. We had poppadoms and the pickle tray. All the pickles were fresh and extremely tasty. Our mains, side, rice and breads followed and were delicious best was the cabbage side and we ate everything. Thanks so much for your hospitality and a special thanks goes to the chef.
Not impressed with the food. Been years ago so i remembered the food was always great here. It’s not what it used to be. Very tasteless and nothing special. The nann breads were a let down, very much as if they were bought in and not freshly made. We booked a table for 6 of us and placed 2 orders of chicken tikka massala. My mum said her’s didn’t taste right, they had given here lamb. When the bill arrived they hadn’t acknowledged this, even though we had pointed it out and she only ate a little of it. They should have taken it off the bill really. Will not go here again. Will definitely stick to Solomons in Newcastle in future.
