We travelled up from London wanting to do the curry train from Newcastle to Corbridge after seeing Michael Portillo do it on Great Britain Railway journeys, great being met by the staff and served beers on the train and our order taken.nRestaurant was beautiful, most fabulous staff, the owner was a real great character.nThe food was amazing from the chapati roll starter to the chicken madras,it was my birthday so the bought me out a cake too.nMy partner left her coat on the platform getting on the train back to Newcastle and we rang the restaurant and they kindly found it and kept it safe.nWe had to collect the jacket the following day so we done it all again had the extra night in Newcastle too
One of the best Indian restaurants we have been too!nnThe location is excellent. The exterior is really nice and well presented. The welcoming lounge, entrance area is so inviting and the staff are incredibly attentive and friendly. So professional.nnNo wonder The Valley has been successful for 32 years !!nnAfter we had our welcome drinks in the reception area. We were escorted to our table upstairs. The food was sensational! So fresh, with quality ingredients. Possibly the best we have had!nnWe ate on a Saturday night and it was very busy, but you wouldn't know it, because the service was excellent and very personal.nnThe Valley is situated on the train platform at Corbridge. There are fantastic deals on the 'Curry Train', where you can catch the train, and be welcomed at the restaurant directly on the platform.nnWe honestly cannot recommend The Valleys, highly enough!!nnThank you X
Excellent food and service, well worth the journey. Will be back for sure
We've had many brilliant family meals here in the past but our recent family dinner was a really bad experience!!! We had a table booked for 5.30 as we had a few kids with us 1 month old, and 2,8 & 10 year olds. We weren't sat at the table until 6.20 they held us downstairs at the entrance/bar area for this whole time. Once sat at the table our food they didn't arrive until 7.20 the time we had hoped to leave to get the kids to bed!!.nnIf you book a table for 5.30 you don't expect to be waiting for the table for almost an hour, and for the food to arrive almost 2 hours after arriving. Really poor management overall. The restaurant were clearly too busy, and the staff had no desire to help us out as a family with small children, despite us asking; can we order, be sat at our table, where's the food etc there was no info or effort made to make it work for us. They had just clearly over booked the tables.nnWe highly recommend this place for the food, and if you're a party of adults, but I'd avoid this place if you're hoping for a relaxing family meal it was raucously loud, even at 6pm!. With a heavy heart, we will sadly be avoiding this place for a while.
Food was great, but expensive.nWe did the curry train from Newcastle.nLamb was super tender.nNice decor and the staff were excellent.nnI recommend the lamb chops
