We live in Corbridge so we have never stayed at the Golden Lion, however we want to say that this pub is an absolute gem. Fantastic hosts and staff. Lovely family run pub with a very friendly welcome. Food and service first class. Nothing is too much trouble. Spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished, warm and comfortable. First time at the Golden Lion and it will not be the last. In a central location within walking distance from local parking, it's in a prime location. The decor is country classic and very welcoming, the fire added to the ambience on a cold January day. We were greeted by friendly staff and got to select our table. We sat right next to the fireplace. The menu was pub classics, reasonably priced and not too much choice so that it was overwhelming. Being Friday, we opted for fish and chips. The food arrived piping hot and was delicious. Washed down with local ale, it was lovely. Portions are quite large for us and we felt awful leaving quite a bit. Toilets clean and overall spotless pub. Free WiFi just ask for the password. Very helpful, friendly and polite staff and owners. Next time we will leave more room and have dessert too.
Stopped into the golden lion by chance after a walk and we were so glad we did. The steak we both had was absolutely incredible, one of the best we have had. Coffee is absolutely delicious. The charm of the place is next to none, with plenty of dining space and delicious specials on offer also. Dogs are also welcome which is always a plus. The real reason that made me absolutely have to write a review was the service. Some people you get served by and you can tell they love their job and are just individuals who are genuinely nice and helpful people. The girly pops who served us were so sweet and it really makes a difference. Can’t recommend enough, you have to stop by!! Thanks again girlies x
What a difference Adrian, Pam, Daniel and Lauren have made to the Lion.nWe've had several meals there since they took over and the food has been truly excellent.nThe place feels local, comfy and homely and the service from Adrian, Pam and Lauren is perfect, not in your face, just friendly and relaxed.nAs for Daniel in the kitchen, Wow!!nThe food he produces and the presentation of that food is absolutely first class. Local produce including Adrian's own asparagus is used and the standard menu is also complemented with a 'specials' menu so there's great choice.nWe dined there last night and for the first time ever for me in a restaurant there were four items on the starter section that I could happily have chosen. Normally it's one or two.nIn the end I went for the brown crab on toast which was amazing. To show what I mean about Daniel's presentation I've attached a photo.nWe're so lucky to live in Corbridge and even more lucky to have the Golden Lion just down the road.nWe'll definitely be regulars.
Ate here with my wife and teenage grandchildren...the warm welcome, great service and impeccable food were so good that we came back 2 days later...still did not disappoint. A genuinely amazing family pub and the Chef is a genious...I thoroughly recommend The Golden Lion!
