I've stayed in Midhurst a few times since lockdown and the Swan Inn in my opinion is the best place in town. Very reasonable prices, delicious food and the best Gins ever! I do love a good Gin and Tonic!! Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Looking forward to next visit there. Score= 10/10
A beautiful English pub, nestled in the heart of Midhurst. It has amazing food, a great selection of beers, very comfortable bed and room! Everyone is welcoming and friendly, especially Simon who I think runs it. So much to see and do around Midhurst with Chichester and its stunning harbour nearby, the South Downs, Goodworth and many Roman sites all on it's doorstep. I'll definitely be going back. Below is an email we sent this hotel, hoping for a reply, but as we did not receive anything we are now leaving it here for all to read: To whom it may concern We stayed at your hotel on Friday 23rd September 22 and we just thought you might like to know how our stay went. When we entered our room, first impression was, nice & clean, but as time went on we realised that this was not the case. Firstly the fan did not work in the bathroom and then we noticed how much dirt & dust was in the vent. Only one light working in the bathroom. Shower head in need of a clean. Shower stat not working, as when turn to full cold, water still comes out hot. With the macerator toilet installed, this gave off a sewage smell, which was not particularly pleasent. Only one bedside lamp working. Cob Webb's on ceiling, bags & rubbish found in some drawers. Although we realise that the building is very old, the windows need stops to prevent opening too wide, as very dangerous & illegal. Also one thing that was very annoying was the emergency light, which lit up the room bright green all night. We appreciate the hotel is under new management, but it's clear to see that the rooms need some proper attention. This was our first stay in midhurst and whilst we found this lovely village our stay at the Swan Hotel was very disappointing, but we hope you take on board our comments to improve the stay for future customers. Kind regards Miss Harris & Mr Castle
The rooms are very nice and clean. The bed is super comfortable. After a long walk it was a bless to return to such a nice accommodation. The heater is adjustable, the water pressure and temperature are good, too. The breakfast was spot on full English breakfast, they served it in the cafe opposite the Inn. Overall I highly recommend it. All staff are very friendly and they made our stay a nice experience.
Sorry to write this review ive never had the need to do so before. Ignore the website it is completely out of date as it is under new management. We had a 2 night stay there two days after it had changed hands......absolute chaos!! We booked expecting a nice restaurant and bar - there was no restaurant and the bar wasn't open it was full of packing cases. No pillowcases on the 2nd pillows, no shower gel - I could go on but I won't. When we spoke and texted the owner......no response! On a positive note the breakfast was good but that wasn't anything to do with the owner.
It’s such a shame, this used to be lovely when the current owners took it over, amazing food, way above your traditional pub standard, great drinks and local! However it’s been so hit and miss in terms of the quality, last night was the last time I’ll be visiting. Went in for chips and a cocktail, pretty basic. Was told no chef on Thursday night and the only person there didn’t know how to make any of the cocktails. So a glass of wine and bag of crisps it was. Thank goodness I was with great company otherwise it would have been a disaster
The friendliest welcome I've ever received. Only popped in for cold drinks, but can't wait for the next visitService: 5/5
Loved our stay at The Swan Inn. The pub is lovely and has a brilliant vibe with the local crowd. The food is delicious and the service is wonderful. We stayed in room 3 which was very comfortable for us and the dog. The freestanding bath was a great way to relax after a long walk. All in all, a fab stay in an adorable pub in a gorgeous town. Thank you very much and we look forward to coming back.
Great stay at The Swan and it’s updated rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful, well put together menu & was introduced to the delight of well crafted tequila by Digby the landlord who could teach some chain pubs the art of being a good landlord. Would recommend dinner and a stay here and cafe across road for breakfast also very nice
Best pub and accommodation in Midhurst. Love the selection if beers, Gins and the food is spot on.Rooms: 5/5
