We had Sunday lunch there yesterday, it was just fabulous, personally cooked by Bill the innkeeper, the wife has Sunday off. The pub is just wonderful a watering hole frequented by lots of locals .
We had a lovely drink in the five bells, we both used to go there in our early days before we met. We knew the owner from years gone and he's still there. Lovely warm fire crackling at the far end of the room and 2 cosy chairs to sit and relax.
Local village type pub, friendly welcome serving local.regulars and drop ins looking for a pleasant drink and snack in a peaceful settingService: 3/5
Brilliant local pub , great beers , papers and a warm welcome
The selection of well kept ales is second to none. Friendly publican and customers, a gem!Location: 5/5
Good pub. Real beer. Real landlord. Walkability: Good walking area.
April 2022: Went to have a meal, based on the menu on the website. Unfortunately, on arrival, was told that this menu was very old and no longer existed. Actual menu, on blackboard, was very limited, and we ate elsewhere. A pity, as it is a lovely old pub.
Charming old pub, unchanged for decades, a rarity, owned by the lovely couple who like it just the way it is. The cider and ales that I had were excellent. There is a menu, but it is limmited, as the landlady cooks the food herself. I didn't eat there, but have heard good reviews from other people I know. It still shuts at 3pm in the afternoon and opens early evening, just like pubs used to. I enjoyed my visit and plan to return soon.
Excellent traditional country pub. No fuss, just great beer and company
Beers excellent. Very nice atmosphere, friendly welcome, excellent bed and breakfast.
