A great friendly local that is near the station and the city centre. When you walk into The Swan it is like stepping back in time with the red cushioned seats and stools and the separate bars. A definite visit in York if you like a pub with character and history.
This is a traditional pub in every sense of that description. Such a delight to see a large range of beers and drinks available, sectioned off rooms, no food offered, no music, purely packed with people and their dogs having a conversation….. such a delight. Highly recommended venue
Lovely good old fashioned pub with a bar and a parlour. Wide range of gins my thing and other spirits to choose from. Also a good range of real ales to choose from hubbies thing Clean and comfy and welcoming is how I'd describe this place. Great for all ages. Has a lovely beer garden, white washed walls planted up. Would recommend to anyone for a drink alone or with friends. Dog friendly.
Wonderful 'proper' pub on the edge of the city centre in York. Great interior and an excellent range of well kept beers. The Swan is a free house, as is the Slip round the corner, another lovely pub. I've visited a few times in the past and will be going to York again in a fortnight for a small pub crawl and this will certainly be one of the places I will visit. Sadly more and more pubs are not opening until 2:00 or 4:00, or worse still are closing down. We need to support them or we will lose an important element of our English heritage. Avoid the big national pub chains and support your traditional old pubs.
What a quaint pub with a relaxing atmosphere. Not a lot of seating, but lots of room in the beer garden. The beer garden was partly covered and had heaters. Great selection of beer and gins. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely return

Down here most years for the Ebor festival and always spend time in this pub. great wee venue on the way to the races with a beer garden for when the weather is good.
Very good pub , sells York Gin and great beer, very friendly staff, and good service.
