The Staffordshire Regiment Museum

About

A museum telling the heroic tale of the Staffordshire Regiment from their beginnings in 1705 until the present day as The Mercian Regiment

Story

The Staffordshire Regiment Museum tells the story of the Staffordshire Regiment and all its antecedents from its formation in Lichfield in 1705.

Situated alongside DMS Whittington, formally Whittington Barracks, the Regiments spiritual home, the museum collection has over 10,000 items relating the history of this truly exceptional Regiment.

As well as looking at the history we are also focused on the future and the bravery and sacrifice of the men of Staffordshire still lives on within the Mercian Regiment. Created in 2007 from an amalgamation of the Cheshire Regiment, The Worcester Forester Regiment and the Staffordshire Regiment, the Mercian's now truly represent the heart of our great nation.

Great interaction from staff, small venue but makes up for it with a wealth of history. Well worth a visit.

Superb experience blew away our expectations. It's by no means huge but the personal stories and artifacts combined with the replica trench brought to life with well placed audio accounts and realistic battlefield sounds made it a brilliant learning experience. Incredibly friendly staff. All volunteers.

Excellent layout and varied for all the family. Very well constructed trench which you can walk through to get the feeling of what it was like all those years ago.

Great museum, staff very friendly and informative. Only a small museum but lots on show, great selection of medals on show. The ww1 trench outside is fantastic. Not overpriced entrance fee.
