From London to Skye, a great holiday. The last meal out was at The Stables. The restaurant has great appeal, right on the Glasgow Branch canal. We sat outside on this warm day. The interior was very comfortable looking. An order at the bar place, easy enough. They do serve the food. Nice bar, the staff was great, quick to pour. With time to chat, we did just that for a bit. A barmaid was very pleasant, a good representative of the restaurant. I got the impression she was running this bar. Blonde girl. The meals were pizza, fish and chips, salad with chicken, and a beef sandwich. Zero complaints. A few barges cruised by bike riders stopped, and folks with their pups enjoyed lunch. Cheers!
Ignored when we entered, then staff shouting across full restaurant to check if our table was ready was not a good start. Loads of empty tables so not even sure what that was about. Staff continued to have loud personal conversations with each other and the couple next to us, I didn't appreciate two staff members standing at my shoulder blethering loudly while I ate. Food was nothing special, the only element of all courses freshly cooked was the steak, everything else was clearly prepared earlier then reheated. Mushrooms came with warm stale bread, pate with half a cold untoasted baguette. Very strange decision there. Very small portion of chips, more paper in the dish than chips and sticky toffee should have come with a lot more custard and in a bowl or even with a choice of ice cream.. Glad we took the lunch deal and not the a la carte as if that was the standard of cooking it would have been a rip off. Bill came to just over £47, handed over a £50 dine out card and was asked to then pay the amount left on my card, I had to explain he had it the wrong way round. Nice place, good setting by canal but left disappointed and won't return.
First time we have visited. Great value 2 course lunch for just £15.95 my soup and steak were excellent as was my friend’s gammon steak and crème brûlée 2 course. Friendly and efficient service. Well worth a visit.Food: 5/5
lovely wee pub ..next to canal and stables with gorgeous little pony and cows Lunch was beautiful..chicken and leak pie with mash & spring onions served with roasted carrots and cabbage My pal had the fish and chips. which was huge! pricey but worth it
Staff very kind and attentive. Called us Boss a bit. Strange but the place was clean tidy. Kind fast staff. Food was huge serving, way too much .. so best go hungry. Service although busy was fast and hot. Yummy food! Good choice on the menu. Dog friendly there was a selection of dog dishes and treats upon entry, just for dogs now ! Would recommend. Parking: Disabled parking marking are worn and almost invisible. So as we arrived, the pick-up van parked in the disabled bay and walked away, unaware of the situation we were left in. Wheelchair accessibility: Fully accessible but the willingness to give the radar key to anyone to save going to standard toilets upstairs was sad.. space in the disabled toilet and on ground level. Although the floor and directly outside the front door, the old slabs are off level, so difito walk or wheel over when mobility is an issue. A level finished surface for physical or visual disability it best. If they are all at the same level, please. See above ref disabled car parking bays. Please. But apart from this good layout. Staff make space for table access as required. We highly recommend the Stables as they are clean, fast, friedly anda reasonable price we think you will love. Thank you.
A lovely restaurant with a great selection of food. We are awkward customers as I’m gluten free and my husband has a nut allergy. The staff were so knowledgeable about allergies and made sure that our food was safe. Sarah was a lovely server and took a genuine interest in talking to us and making us feel welcome. We had a starter and a main and all of the food was amazing. Our chef, Callum was a fab chef and the meals were cooked and presented to a very high standard. Coffees were top notch too! The staff were attentive and kind. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We had a great Saturday night out here. Would definitely go back, thank you to the stables!
Eleanor was so lovely, her service was brilliant! The food was amazing. Thank you John and Mat for the delicious fish and chips and mac and cheese!Food: 5/5
• Order Pictured - SIGNATURE BURGER 21-day-aged prime steak burger, topped with maple-glazed beef, brisket, streaky bacon, mayo, smoked Cheddar, cheese sauce and a Southern-fried onion nest with chips and burger sauce dip on the side. Sticky crispy chicken, Tender bites glazed in chipotle chilli jam. • Time - quick 60 mins in there for dinner. • Presentation - see pics. • Quality - 5/5 - Absolutely fantastic, the Sticky crispy chicken starter was delicious and that jam mmmmm. The burger was out of this world especially with all that cheese. The flavours just hit you bite after bite. I mean look what's on it. Dipping the onion nest into that sauce as well • Quantity - 4/5 - there were loads. • Value for money - very good, £55 for 2 starters and 2 mains with 2 pints. • Additional - quick service and the staff were friendly. Shout out to Lucy who served us. The atmosphere was great. It's a great pub.
Had a lovely first time experience at The Stables - lovely atmosphere and equally as good food! Came here for Sunday dinner with my sister and was served by Kelsey - she was very attentive and served us with a smile! Would highly recommend - can’t wait to come back and try their desserts as we were both too full! Food: 5/5
