Cracking pub! Traditional home cooked food and really welcoming staff. We wanted a nice pub lunch on a Monday, and The Spur serves 7 days a week 12-3 for lunch on Monday. The menu is wide and everything looks tasty, plus a great range of proper British puddings. We had pies and they were amazing, full of meat and really tasty, also love getting a plate of veg and full jug of gravy with a pie. The place is very big, lots of room to eat comfortably, very friendly staff, and a decent range of beer. You will not be disappointed if you come here
Friendly pub, 3 good ales and excellent food. Tables in and out with good shade. Pleasant gardens. A very good drop off or place to go for a meal. Old building looked interesting but I did not have time to investigate it.
Nice Country Pub with fairly large pub courtyard garden. It also has a traditional skittles alley in a separate building you can book for private events. There is a large car park to the right of the main building plus lots of on road parking to the front. Building itself was nice and clean, and the toilets were also very tidy although the gents ran out of paper towels during the afternoon I was there I was part of a group having a skittles and BBQ event and all the food was precooked presumably in main kitchen and so no danger of food poisoning, and then kept warm on a gas BBQ in the courtyard garden. The salad was much more than a few bits of green and had hot boiled potatoes, rice and pasta all looking very fresh and appetising. Friendly, enjoyable afternoon with no complaint. Will go again.
Beautiful place Only stopped for a drink but the food coming out looked lovely. I look forward to sampling the menu real soon.
Best food we've had in ages!! Everything fresh and home made.The pies and chunky chips are delicious and the icecream so worth tryimg! welcoming friendly staff . Cosy atmosphere. Dog friendly.
The garlic mushrooms were the best I've ever had. And the pie is what a pie is ment to be. full of filling and flavor, husband had the steak pie and I had the minted lamb. Meat was beautiful tender and not fatty at all Well done
We popped in for a spot of lunch with our two Cockerpoo's on the way to see our Son at Portsmouth Uni. The dogs were welcomed with open arms. The bar staff was open and approachable. The landlady and landlord were both relaxed and chatty with us and we were made to feel like we were one of the locals. The food was reasonably priced and a good size portion. Definitely
So welcoming as always. It was very busy just coming to the end of lunch service but they found us a table straight away. The food is always amazing and we didn't have to wait very long. A much appreciated pit stop on our long country walk, thanks guys
Members of staff were great polite and happy in their work. I came with my husband who arranged a surprise visit from a school I hadn't seen for 26 years brilliant. Food was great thank you to you all at Spur.
Amazing family run pub, GREAT HOME COOKED FOOD, very friendly and welcoming. Not only that but we could stay in our motorhome overnight in their carpark behind locked gates!!!!!!! Thanks Josh and family for a very memorable time. We will definitely be back. Love Chris and Karen. XX
