We had sandwiches here on Christmas Market day and they were excellent, prompt service, even though very busy, so today we took friends there and was very disappointed. This time the place was quiet, but the service was very slow. The bacon in the sandwiches was extremely fatty, the cod sandwich came on the wrong bread. It was taken away to correct, by the time it came back, the others had more or less finished and it was cold.
This pub is situated near the river in the town of Fowey, it is a very warm and friendly pub on two floors.nnIt's the oldest pub in Fowey and speaks of John Rashleigh building the property in the 15 hundreds before being converted to a public house.nnIt's a fascinating building and very period for the time, loads to see in the pub while you while away time chatting over the decor.nnFirst the great, the food is fantastic, the fish pie is too good to put into words, all dishes looked in good proportions and of quality. Service was friendly and helpful and dogs are allowed to sit in the dining area with you.nnTalking of dogs they actually do a full dining experience for dogs, yes you heard correct, starters mains and puddings washed down with a dog beer! Our dog loved the fish dinner and the beer non alcoholic nothing was left behind.nnYou order at the bar which can be busy in the evenings but that's nothing new.nnThe only point I'd raise is the toilets, the men's isn't great and the females Loo is very small, it could do with a tidy up, but don't let that detract from the overall experience, it's a fantastic pub and I'd go as far to say the fish pie is probably the best I've ever had!!nnDefinitely worth a visit, a piece of English history, a warm welcome and a proper dog's dinner make it a great night out.nnEnjoy the atmosphere and food in great surroundings...
Old school boozer with a wood fuelled fire and serving delicious fish & chips. Kid’s menu is the usuals and was given glowing reviews by an 8 and 10 year old. Guiness Zero .nnOnly thing that let it down was sachet condiments, which are just unnecessary, and of poor quality. I’ll never understand their use…
Regular visitors when in Cornwall. Rattler is available on draught and this time we tried the food. We both had the pie of the day, which was chicken and ham and they were served with buttered vegetables. After a bit of a wait, the food was fantastic and we'd definitely come again.
Terrible, as a local been eating and drinking here for many years. The Ship Inn sits above Kittows great butchers and remains so. Thought we’d eat there as it’s been a while, thought we’d treat ourselves as the price is certainly not cheap!! The staff there claim the sausages I was served were kittows. I doubt it, they were awful. My guess is some kind of frozen cheap sausage from up country.
