We were looking for some place to eat fresh fish in Cornwall, and as we were around Fowey, a quick look on Google suggested Sam's. Although looking at the online menu you wouldn't think they serve any fresh fish, the thing is that they actually do and it is delicious. We were greeted by a lively gentleman who told us the available fishes for the day, we went for the bouillabaisse and the sea feast, they were absolutely delightful, especially the former. Being a Spaniard myself, I can say this is the kind of fresh fish you can eat down in Spain. The waiting staff are very eager to help and please. If you're around Cornwall and fancy good seafood, you can't get it wrong with Sam's.

Sam's is a very cosy little restaurant done out with music and film regalia on the walls. Interesting to look at whilst waiting for The food. The staff were great and the food was reasonable. I ate there two nights having the skate wing from the specials board on the first night. It was an amazing thick piece of fish cooked well. Only let down by a very boring salad. The salad dressing on the table was very good though. The second night I had Moroccan spiced mackerel. The mackerel was cooked perfectly but the spiced topping was not nice in my opinion. Again, a very boring salad accompanying it. It's not possible to reserve a table here but the turnaround is quite good so during the week not too much of a problem.

Favourite restaurant in all Cornwall.. absolutely superb staff, fab food and an amazing atmosphere and fabulous music... you cant book.. its turn and be lucky or wait.. but its worth it... its a mainstay of every visit for me.. highly recommended.

We have visited Sam's before and always enjoyed it, but on our latest trip to Fowey we didn't have such a great experience sadly. Lukewarm service and ultimately a case of food poisoning from undercooked Mussels. We thought they were slightly too soft but not being experts in these things and assuming Sam's are we went ahead and ate them and suffered the dire consequences. Not good enough, especially for an establishment with mainly fish and seafood on the menu!

Great vibe, liked the decor and seating. The food was amazing. Best burger in a long time.
