Lovely cosy country pub with a friendly helpful manager and staff. We had an amazing couple of meals the other evening, and we're made to feel very welcome in our campervan which we slept in outside the pub bit of a slope but a nice quiet night We had a great walk to Lud's Church the next morning, and by the time we got back we decided to stay for some more lovely food before heading home. We will definitely be back with our friends next time. Well done Cat for doing a great job managing the pub.
Nice traditional cosy pub. Staff were friendly and food was ok. Nothing special hence a 4* rating. Beautiful location.
Great local pub with the most amazing food. My husband and I visited twice during our three-day stay in the area and both times the staff were lovely and inviting even when we came in drenched and muddy from walking. As others have said, you must eat there; the food is so much more than standard pub fare.
Lovely pub. Delicious food. Energetic cheerful staff.
I would have liked to give it 5 stars because it is a fabulous pub with great beer and great staff but the food let it down slightly. I love mushy peas but their peas seemed like they were marrowfat peas out of a tin and then mashed by the chef. For the cost of real peas they shouldn't skimp.
Absolutely beautiful place! Lovely, relaxing atmosphere, crackin' choice of ales and snacks I shall be returning with my family for food next time my mate says the food is fabulous!
Atmosphere was good as everyone was enjoying being outside in the sun surrounded by the greenery. We ordered Chicken skewers £7.95 and 6oz Steak Burger £14.95. Generous portion. The chicken was tender and the salad was fresh. The steak burger was served medium perfect for my husband and the fries were crispy. The staff were friendly all the way. Thank you.
A great place to stop after a long walk from Gradbach. Really warm atmosphere and brilliant food.
We had a very warm welcome and a cozy table in the bar near the log fire. Perfect setting to enjoy a birthday meal with friends. The food was delicious and the young team who looked after us were a credit to The Ship and their superb manager Cat. Have happily recommended to family and friends. Thank you for a lovely evening. Claire and Rob
Lovely pub, staff were really friendly, pie was excellent. Just what I was after, full shortcrust pastry, none of this pastry lid nonsense
