Excellent North East pub with great food and choice of beers. Sunday Lunch roast beef was wonderful and the half roast chicken huge! 9 of us visited today and the staff couldn't have been more helpful or attentive. If you are in the vicinity of the Angel of the North pop in - you will not be disappointed.
Very dog friendly..... Food was made to order, so a little wait, but worth it....
A dog friendly pub, with good food and warm welcome. Water bowls and dog blankets are in a basket at the entrance. Food was excellent and good portion sizes, very reasonable prices, and the are staff lovely and friendly. Highly recommended, especially if you have a dog.
We have visited this pub a few times recently and like the improvements made. However each time I have asked for a pint of real ale the pub advertises a range of beers I have been told there is none available that day. Do you intend selling real ales as they were always available previously?
We normally go to the Bowes Incline but it was full today. So we tried the ship on spec. The food was fantastic! Even better than Bowes.. the meat was great! The roast potatoes were gorgeous!! All round a great meal. The place itself is a nice friendly atmosphere, the staff were welcoming… all round very nice place to eat.
Very disappointed, booked a table for 2 at 2pm , wasn't made aware of any menu shortages. Arrived bought drinks then checked menu. I requested steak , was told no steak left 2pm , so asked for steak and ale pie , was told sold out , so just got fish and chips . My partner ordered vegan ravioli which came out cold , she complained and was told she would get a new one , but the original came back reheated and with the texture of rubber . Sorry but i won't be spending my money again with you.
Went for Sunday lunch. Table for five. We were squashed on to a table for four even though we pre booked. Service was terrible. Meals came out staggered for mains and desserts. We weren't told we had to pre book at bar and had to wait a long time at the bar for drinks. The bar staff completely ignoring us even though a member of staff was fiddling with the till for over an hour. The beef was one of the worst we've had. So tough. Asked for pot of tea the girl dropped the lid on the floor but still used it then started to polish cutlery with the dirtiest cloth I've ever seen. I don't consider myself an awkward customer and always tip well. This is the 1st time I've never left a tip other than they need to get their house in order.... Won't be back
Stopped in on a whim on Sunday tea time on our way home for some food. Lovely cosy pub, warm atmosphere and the food was excellent. Will definitely be back again.
Lovely staff rushed off their feet. Service was extremely slow but you can tell they're under staffed however the food was worth the wait. Really good.
Lovely bar and beautiful view. Food was ok though service was slow. Plenty space for dogs
