Went to have a bite of lunch on Saturday......huge disappointment. We ordered cappuccinos and tea....waitress arrived with a jug of coffee said coffee machine not working.....we should have been advised as would have changed order. Menu very boring so had a piece of cake...buttermilk and orange...tasted of nothing and not that fresh. Mother had a crab sandwich which took ages to arrive and then was like a builder's doorstep special....staff generally had couldn't care less attitude. Lovely location was only pleasing factor that is what gets the 1*. Maybe the hotel is better but won't bother finding out!

Outstanding experience. We were a party of 13 adults and five children (aged 20 months to eight years) for lunch to celebrate a wedding. We were seated in the main dining room. No specific children's menu but they could ask for what they fancied and this came extremely quickly so children happy. Enormous set of crayons then produced and table set up for their use. Many varied food choices for the adults and all delicious (best salted caramel sauce ever!). Lovely, happy and friendly staff who looked after us very well. Nothing was too much trouble (even staging a photo opportunity on the stairs which involved throwing rice over the happy couple!). Thank you so much for contributing to our fantastic day.

Fab views and great food. Cocktail hour is a must. Bring on the Summer. Lots of inspirational painting spots too.

Unfortunately when we went my father had booked a table for 5 for his partners birthday. When we arrived it turned out they didn't have the normal menu on that day because it was between Christmas and New year. However we were not pre-warned when booking. Other than that, we were seated to our table and then waited 45 minutes until anyone even came over to offer us a drink (let alone order food) After eventually ordering food off the brunch menu it took another hour before that arrived. No one came back to us for second drink orders or anything like that. I was fortunate in my group of 5 as I ordered steak. Which was pleasant enough. The other people I was with had a variety of fish, which they all complained was not fresh as it really tasted of fish which if you like fish, know only goes really fishy when sat for a long time. I do have to say that I think that this day was just a bad day for The Seaside Boarding house, but it was my first and probably only visit.
