While in Edinburgh for work I was lucky enough to be taken to this place by a current member. The sweet potato risotto was delicious and the rest of the menu sounded great. The main reason we went was obviously for the whisky, the staff were attentive and knowledgeable and it was such a great experience. As you can see by the photos the members area of this place has a great atmosphere, it isn’t over crowded and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will definitely be a signing up as a member.
Absolutely fantastic way to experience true Scotch Malt Whisky. We were welcomed and given a comprehensive introduction to Scotch Malt Whisky by Ivan. Ivan is extremely knowledgeable and truly passionate about whisky which made it such a joy to get involved in the tasting. We enjoyed our whisky tasting and didn't expect much of the 2-course meal that is included in the tasting however, I was extremely impressed by their Kitchen. I couldn't recommend this society enough and would seriously encourage joining if you live nearby and enjoy whisky as they have places not only in Edinburgh but London too.
I visited with a few friends during a dark January Saturday evening. Such a fascinating place and Helen our lead for the tasting was fantastic. She was so knowledgeable and really enjoyed talking through everything they offered and how they make it such a special whisky offer and their various sites. We ended up not having any food, but they have a selection available for anyone in tastings or in their public rooms. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a few hours with other whisky lovers or even anyone who is unsure of drinking whisky.
This was a pleasant surprise. We stumbled upon this wonderful delight while walking around. Great service. Delicious bar fare bites and lots of Scotch options. I tried some for the 1st time and enjoyed every stomach burning sip!!
A wide selection of whiskies and nice food. Our group tasted a flight after explaining our preferences for style and distillery location and the staff delivered on these. The atmosphere was very relaxed. A query with the bill was the only issue we had.
As a member of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society Queen Street in Edinburgh for a few years now, I can attest that it's one of the best places to unwind and sample some of the finest whiskies around. It's a true whisky lover's paradise, with an impressive collection of some of the best and most unique whiskies from around the world. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, and always willing to help guide you through the menu and make recommendations based on your preferences. The whisky tastings are a particular highlight - they're a great way to sample a variety of whiskies and learn more about the history and production of each one. The club also hosts a range of fantastic events throughout the year, always well-organized, and it's clear that the staff take great care in ensuring that every guest has a memorable experience.
Knowledgeable about whisky doesn't even get close to describing what they know about the stuff. I'll admit that it was a little intimidating going in as a non member but after being introduced to what they do single barrel, I had a great night and enjoyed the conversation with the Jeremy behind the bar.
A must stop if you like scotch and you're in Edinburgh, it's the Vatican of the scotch world. Buy a membership before you go so you can taste upstairs, otherwise the Kaleidoscope Room is open to the public on the main nice room.
The whole experience was 10/10 from top to bottom. The room was beautiful and the whiskey was amazing but Ivan was our highlight. He walked us through the entire tasting and helped us pick another whiskey with the same flavor profile. Thank you Ivan!
One of the best bars if you’re a whiskey lover. Wide variety selection of rare whiskey with excellent explanation and recommendations from the bartender name Euan.
