A good traditional pub with an upper bar area and a lower level for dining. The dining area has an interesting mural, of many celebrities along one wall. A good selection of beers, spirits is available. Service is excellent and a particular mention must go to Steven. Several of us were sitting at a table that was reserved at 19:30 and we were in the process of moving to another table, which only had stools rather than seats when Steven appeared and arranged for a table in the dining area. Not all of us were going to be eating so that was very considerate. The Cullen Skink is fantastic - it's served in 2 sizes of mugs and is so full of fish, potato etc that you can stand the spoon in it!
Bar+subterranean room. Cosy feel. White stone walls + wood beams.and frieze along the wall. 5 ales on all good. 15 craft beers + whisky. Staff excellent.
Great Pub!! These folks took great takenof our whole group. Had a variety of delicious food and several flights of Scotch Whiskeys. Many thanks to the crew, they made an authentic Edinburgh pub experience a reality!
Cosy nice atmosphere. Friendly, kind and knowledgable staff.Good, professional and fast table service. The food was excellent. We ate mussles and fish board. This was my best mussles i've ever eat. Real ale, plenty of whiskeys and other spirits too. If you can choose then try the three whiskey flight. I think we sat upstairs - but not sure as it was in the street level. I recommend this place. We were there on a Sunday evening but was busy. I am sure i will go back again when i am here.
Steak pie perfect. Large haggis stovies a little too much for one person, but it's good. Staff friendly
The kelpies were such a fun surprise. I had been told since I can't walk far that I wouldn't get to see them, but I brought my American handicap placard and had been told that it works in the UK as well. So when we pulled up we simply showed the placard and they are showed us right up to the front next to the cafe and gift shop and museum area and to the kelpies themselves. The informational video was awesome. It really taught me a lot about the area and the history of the kelpies. I would highly recommend visiting it if you're traveling that way. I don't know if it'll become one of the wonders of the world, but they certainly are intriguing, unique, and a fun break from driving.
Great place with a real old pub feel. Had the haggis, tatties and neeps finished off with a beautiful flight of highland whiskeys. Highly recommend.
Great selection of cask and keg beers. Good range of other drinks. Nice traditional pub, well worth a visit
My first visit was a random discovery. The food and drink is first rate. I'm now on my second visit of the day and may well be back tomorrow.
This is a rugby bar with no equal that I've ever come across or likely ever will. The range of beers, spirits and wines is exceptional and the level of service is as good as you'll experience anywhere. We didn't eat there but the menu looks fantastic. It has a great atmosphere that's the rugby effect for you... in great surroundings and excellent staff. Well worth a visit.
