Staff are polite and professional good choice of drinks and plenty of places to sit indoor and out. We had a lovely meal and the steak was cooked as requested. Excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this place, definitely going back.
Can be busy at the weekends and when bands are playing. Good food and generous portions. Parking: Not many parking spaces directly outside, but plenty available nearby
Called in with my daughter for some food and a drink. I had steak and ale pie and she had fish and chips. Absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend the Schooner. The food and drink are fantastic and a great price. Called back on 3rd February 2024 and the food is still delicious. I had fish and chips, with peas and tartare sauce. Best fish and chips I've had for years. My daughter got the Southern fried chicken burger which was massive. Very impressed with the quality of the food.
We were well looked after here by the lovely Suzy. We sat outdoors by the fire pits and had our tea here in this hidden away pub right by the river. Friendly chilled out crowd on a Thursday night and a feeling of community. It was a really chilly night but the fire pits were well tended. If it's chilly come well wrapped up and early for a spot by the fires. Meals here are lovely and priced between £8-£10. We had a Magpye vegan pie, scampi, burger and pizza all were full of flavour and well presented. Brilliant how most things are available in veggie or vegan options. Our fav though were the perfect spot on traditional chips which are sadly so hard to get in pubs these days. Lovely friendly pub ran by people who care!
Been meaning to come to this pub for a few years as they do proper ciders. Really glad I’ve finally managed to get here. They have 5 proper ciders on here today. And I tried the fish and chips and omg that was amazing. Friendly welcome, nice pub will definitely be coming back here agan
This is one of my favourite pubs in Gateshead. There's always an event on, mainly live music most nights. The cask ales change often and are all affordably priced, there are also a range of lagers. Unfortunately no key ales. I can't comment on wines but there are the expected spirits. The food is good, delivered timely and reasonably priced though expect quite calorific traditional pub grub.
A bit off the beaten track and you will find a pub that has charm, great food, a nice range of drinks an open fire and entertainment to match. Can't believe I've been living in Gateshead so long and not known about this place. We went for lunch during the week it was quiet but it was worth it! If this is the second best bar in Gateshead I need to know what is the first!? great name too...
Well known local pub with its dedicated share of regulars... Famous for their amply sized home chilled meals... The adult sized Sunday lunch has enough food to sink a shop! Friendly and efficient service.
Nice atmosphere and decent enough roast dinner on a Sunday - the nut roast was delish and generous portions too! Good vegetarian options and great selection of drinks. Music is never too loud, which I like in a pub setting.Food: 4/5
Went for a meal with friends and a few drinks. The service is absolutely amazing, friendly staff very attentive and made you feel at home with ease! I ordered the vegetarian lasagne and it was the best one I have ever had. To top it off the pub quiz was a real good laugh! Will definitely be returning with out a doubt.
