We entered this pub for the history itself called the coffin for its shape or wedge. It is really bright and clean, the manager welcomed us and invited us to go up to the terrace and it was a brilliant idea. We enjoyed the sunshine and the trains passing by our side. Beautiful views not to Newcastle but some aged buildings opposite. Very recommended.
Lovely old pub. Very friendly and chatty staff and a good selection of beers available.Service: 5/5
Popped in here for a drink on a Monday evening. Very pleasant place for a drink. A good range of products available. Prices are very reasonable for the area - much cheaper than the adjacent hotel!! Friendly and welcoming. Comfortable seating as wellService: 5/5
Great selection of ales available and a nice old pub with friendly staff.Service: 5/5
Good beer selection. Excellent pies. A traditional pub on 3 floors, including a roof garden. It has been renovated in a traditional style, but the occasional modern twist. This is one of those bars that you shouldn't miss if you are in Newcastle or surrounding areas.
A must visit. Great history, architecture not to forget the ales, beers and locally sourced bar food. Can't wait to go backFood: 5/5
Fantastic building and interior, an iconic pub, thoroughly recommend a visit. Great range of real ales and food menu.
Fantastic pub great selection of beers laid back friendly staff. Can't wait to return- hopefully when there's music onFood: 5/5
Really enjoyed my first ever visit here. Friendly people, great pub, great interior, great beers.
The friendliest and most helpful staff we encountered on our pub crawl of Newcastle/Gateshead. Based off a few vague statements from my wife, they were able to pluck a beer that she loved. I must confess it was an excellent choice. The interior was like a dive bar, but not as shabby - loved it.
