We arranged a family get together at the Royalty for a Sunday roast. We had a table for 8 and whilst service was a little slow, the food was delicious. The duo Sunday roast with two meats was great. Never had a roast with mash and roast potatoes before and personally I would of preferred more veg but still enjoyed the mealRooms: 5/5
Called in today for a Monday treat and was not disappointed, The meals were tasty and decent sized portions- and the wife's sticky pudding wad a delight. The service was worthy of a top restaurant! Yes the menu could have more choices but this suited us- we even got takeaway boxes for what we could not manage. 5/5.
Food was great, nice coffee. Staff in restaurant area was nice and polite, I feel the guy on the bar was unnecessarily awkward, asked to book food, said I was sat on a small table behind me to be told they don't serve food there yet we had sat next to 2 separate couples order and eat on the table next to us, when mentioned was told because they had booked? I can't see how that makes any difference personally.
I was so sad to come here and find that the food had gone downhill so much. This used to be such a good place to eat. A small menu of average pub grub at inflated prices.. paid 70£ for pop x3, a half, 3 mains, a starter and a kids meal. Kids meal was a dry bun, dry dry cheap veggy sausage and chips. Probably value if about 50p and cost 7£ No vegetables or salad or even baked bean even offered. My salad was dry, tasteless.. if I hadn't been hungry after working out and it hadn't been late I'd have left as soon as I saw the rubbish menu. We ate the food but won't be back again now. So expensive for really below average food when it used to be tasty and interesting dishes. I feel utterly ripped off and disappointed. Shame as the service was great, the location remains amazing...
Great place to visit after walking on the nearby 'Surprise View'. Beer garden is great when the sun shines with views over the valley and the airport. Haven't eaten but the food looks good. Decent range of beers too. Very dog friendly.
Family of four visited 13:30 Tuesday after a walk round The Chevin. Ruby was very welcoming, a well-placed table in the conservatory had just been vacated so she gave us menus to review whilst she cleaned it. Once seated told us the pie of the day and that they were out of garlic mushrooms.. informed of slight delay in kitchen as it was a busy sunny day, and we were still served within 20 mins of ordering. Very friendly, informative and hard-working. Checked on us throughout the meal. Food was great, each meal about £16: 2 x steak & ale pie would recommend, 1 x chicken burger, 1 x veg curry with chicken. Great location with fab view. Minor gripe that curry wasn't temperature hot, but it didn't affect the meal so didn't mention it or mark-down. Will go back, even just for pint and views. Nearby activities: Walks on and around Otley Chevin. Views of Leeds Bradford Airport.
Popped in for a swifty on way back from Yeadon airport , having not been in this pub for 30 years. All four of us had very nice Forged Irish Stouts . Friendly staff helpfully directed us to an alcove seating area and brought us lovely armchairs for us to sit and talk. There're excellent views of runway 2km? from the conservatory and outdoor seating area, plenty of parking spaces and it's dog friendly.
We recently went for a Sunday roast; our expectations were high due to the mostly good reviews. However, this was sadly a disappointing experience for a number of issues. I ordered the garlic and thyme chicken breast, I was expecting a succulent chicken breast full of flavour, instead the breast was flattened, dry and overcooked. other elements of the dish were also poor - the large single parsnip was so undercooked I struggled to cut it I do like crunchy veg, but this sole parsnip felt like it had only glanced at the oven!, the mashed potato was a tad lumpy, the gravy was watery and lacked any depth of flavour, and although the carrots were okay, there was not enough on the plate. The reason I have not given this just one star is that the Yorkshire pudding was cooked reasonably well and the roast potatoes were okay. Also, the young man serving us was courteous, friendly and helpful so I have scored the service high. He apologised when I brought attention to some issues especially the raw parsnip, he responded by informing me that there had been complaints of the parsnips being overdone earlier in the service - overcompensation on the chefs part. Had my partner and I not felt so ravenous having only had an early breakfast many hours before, we probably would have sent the food back. Maybe we just caught the restaurant on a bad day, as we overheard other customers also complaining, but from my experience, and also as they are, in my view, overcharging at £15.50, I would not recommend going there for a Sunday roast; there are other places that serve far better quality roasts.
We love coming to the Royalty. Today we had pie and mash and toddler had hot dog and fries. The service is friendly and prompt and the food is generous portions and is tasty. Thanks very much! Service: 5/5
