The River Hut was actually SO cute on the inside, and the food was great. Fish & chips a wee bit soggy, but the burger was incredible, and the service was fantastic. Will definitely be back for one of the themed nights!
This is the most lovely of settings, but both times we have visited the welcome has been unbelievably unfriendly. The first time it was not that busy and so we found a table and had a cocktail and some tapas which were both pretty good, butbthe service was entirely cold. The second time, however, there were no tables outside and it was a beautiful evening. The same man who has been serving on both occasions- I think he's the owner, or at least the manager - was incredibly unfriendly. I asked if there were tables free outside and he just said, have you booked? I said no and he said no and walked off. No attempt to welcome us inside where it was more or less empty and not a word of greeting at all. It's like he doesn't want any customers. We won't be going for a third time, which is a real shame as it's a cracking spot and would tick every box for us.
Possibly the best location for a cafe in Kingston. Light, airy and a perfect place to relax and eat. This wonderful eatery is right on the river bank with stunning views. Good parking and the food is excellent. Great service and a wonderful atmosphere. I'll be going back a lot.
Visited end of November for a birthday meal having been quite a few times before. Pate starter was sloppy, 3x main course steaks were overcooked and dry even though medium done was requested. 2x burgers came out with a steak knife holding the burger together instead of a wooden skewer as previously! When I questioned the waiter he didn't think a knife was odd but made eating the burger difficult as you couldn't eat round it as before. Change of management/owner in September 2017 but unfortunately the magic has been lost and we'll not be going back.
Disappointing service from the Polish bartender this morning. It might be Thames riverside but has no interest in serving people ariving by boat, I was met by a frankly rude chap who got into a bizarre semantic debate telling me that a 'coffee mug' I requested is actually a 'coffee cup', don't know if he got up on the wrong side of the bed but it felt an odd and unnecessary exchange. Having worked in service for years myself his demeanour struck me as being very out of place and frankly not cut out for working in the service industry. The hut has a great reputation for food lacks quality service and because of this I won't be visiting again.
Beautiful location and much more upmarket on the inside than the outside. Open view on the kitchen gives a brasserie style feel with a menu and pricing to match.
Cold steak, served with a mixture of overcooked and under cooked veg. Long wait even though it was only a third full. Nice location doesn't rescue it.
Very New England / Hamptons feel on the river. Lovely food, friendly service. It has a special ambience, a treat. Loved it.
A nice little restaurant hidden behind a less than appealing facade. Lovely views over the river to enjoy passing rowers over lunch.
Fabulous Riverside Cafe. Good Food,Good Bar,Good value. Lovely views and seaside "Dorset" Decor and Ambiance.
