4 of us went for dinner. The place is pretty big with a bar area in the front and dinning room area at the rear. There is also a vip and function room section. The food is tapas style and they recommend 3 plates per person. We went full in and ordered 12 plates. The food was really good although some of it was not as warm as it should be but in general very good. The staff are fantastic especially our waitress who had the patience of a Saint while we tried to figure out what we wanted. In general it was a very pleasant dinning experience. The one negative is that the music that they played was way too loud to the point that the waitress was having problems hearing our order.
The restaurant is set within the Kimpton Hotel and the décor and atmosphere is stunning. Such a beautiful old building that gives you a sense of Manchester's history. The food is Tapas style so you order 3-4 dishes each, the food was delicious as were the drinks. Service was bit slow but they were very busy, not that this affected the experience as the dining area is very spacious. I can't wait to go back and try their Sunday Roast.
I love Sunday roast! This week I booked to try out with my date at night. It was good. Very good service. We ordered the Sunday roast to share which is £39 for chicken pork and beef for two people. Very good value. I like their beef and chicken. The Yorkshire pudding is not crispy enough but overall is good! Value for money. I also like their renovation! High ceiling! Definitely recommend for date and family dinner
Had a really lovely light lunch here. This place is really nice, massive vaulted ceilings and minimalist decor. We had a couple cokes, a steak, padron peppers and a smash burger. The padron peppers were in a sweet sauce with nuts and were delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked and in a really rich sauce. The service was quick and friendly. They allow dogs, and the bar man brought ours a bowl of water, which was very sweet.
Honestly some of the best food I have had in a while. Everything tasted amazing - with special shout outs to the pork belly and octopus dishes. The building itself was also beautiful to look at and enjoy. Bloody brilliant and I would go back in a heartbeat
Maybe one of the best restaurants in Manchester. The experience in the venue is completely amazing. Just starting with the venue, it's unique, making over an old bank building in this restaurant. Even lightning is in the right intensity. You must need to book in advance otherwise it will be difficult to find a table. The menu consists in different plans with available options for all types of diatery requirements: vegan, vegetarian or gluten free. They recommended you order 4 dishes, it's.too much in my opinion. If you have 2-3 it's more than enough to be full at the end of the meal. The service is excellent as well.
Really enjoyed it here. Absolutely beautiful surroundings and service was very good. Food was tasty but some dishes missed the mark. The pork belly and cactus tacos were delicious but the lamb shawarma and cod were bland. Lovely experience overall though.
Quick coffee this time but have been in for beers. Already good and the atmosphere is very chilled and relaxing after the hustle and bustle of town. Lovely architecture.
I loved The Refuge, it was the perfect Valentine's day dinner! We had a variety of different foods and we liked the experience of having many options. Although I am not vegan, I noticed that they were many vegan friendly options! Also, it wasn't very expensive and the atmosphere there was amazing. I totally recommend this place!Food: 5/5
Excellent bar with a fabulous interior in keeping with the building itself and its history. From ornate tiled floors and pillars to the windows and ceilings. Vibrant, yet chilled atmosphere during the afternoon/early evening. Superb service and table service is offered, an expansive selection of beers and spirits especially if your a gin or ale drinker. Friendly knowledgeable staff and an all together wonderful experience.
