This was my first time eating at the Raven after lockdown, and I am pleased to report it's just as nice as I remember. My go-to pub meal is usually scampi and Chips and this was nicely cooked with crunchy chips and a decent little salad. Dessert was syrup sponge and the waitress helpfully substituted one portions custard with ice cream. The Raven is a nice stop off if you are doing one of the numerous walks in the area, especially in the warmer weather as it has a decent sized garden with seating.
Very pleasant staff this evening, especially the young lad serving us. Booked the table online at lunchtime for the evening - easy process. There were a few spare tables when we arrived, but best to be sure. Extensive menu. Food arrived in a good amount of time, plentiful and hot. An enjoyable evening.
I had a massive prawn cocktail which I thoroughly enjoyed but I was a little disappointed in the steak and ale pie as it definitely wasn't home made and didn't have a lot of meat in it, mostly just gravy. I also thought the chips were quite dry as though they had been heated up. As this is the only thing I've eaten there I can't really give an opinion on their other food. What I will say is from what saw of other peoples food being delivered to their tables every portion seemed to be a lot bigger than you would get in most places. I would definitely go back and maybe try something else.
A delightful village setting - in the midst of the rolling countryside on the Bedfordshire/ Hertfordshire border. The Raven was extremely popular when we visited and, having sampled the staff's welcoming, relaxed and accommodating style, it has every reason to be so. The food was very nicely cooked and presented. The portions were generous, too. All in all, a very pleasant dining experience.
Very friendly Pub With a great menu. Always a good meal.
Lovely vibe, lovely food friendly staff. Recommend
Excellent food on a Saturday night. Staff were very friendly & and professional, making it an amazing experience & will definitely be back again. Thank you
We visited lunch time today with friends 11th Oct 2022. A lovely meal and atmosphere great too partly due to our waitress Donna who was very engaging as well as making sure we had everything we wanted she had a great sense of humour which I think you need especially when serving us!! So Thankyou very much Donna.
I arranged a meal for 20 diners on the 28th Jan 23. Could not fault the food and the service was exceptional. Very helpful, cheerful staff. Would highly recommend
This is a lovely pub, with a welcoming and very pretty frontage with welcoming hanging baskets. There is plenty of space for parking. There is also a back garden with extra seating on lovely sunny days. There is a long bar with plenty of drinks and varieties to choose from. Lots of seating areas, which you can book in advance for parties etc.. I sat in what felt like a secluded area which didn't need pre booking. There was lots to choose from on the menues. I had a lovely salmon and prawn starter which was like a mini meal. Everything seemed fresh and light. I followed up with a lighter bite menu and chose the 4oz steak, chips peas and tomato and onion rings. I felt that the onion rings were homemade and were lovely and crispy. Steak was cooked exactly as I asked. I also managed a raspberry pavlova, which was a delight. The raspberries were tart and the meringue sweet. A lovely combination. The staff were friendly and busy. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them. I really enjoyed my first visit.
